	🦇 3:34pm Handy Haversack: I'm sorry, Julie -- last week I was too weak to get up to turn off the FM radio and put on the speaker for computer listening. So I just left it on FM. Couldn't move. Not COVID, some sort of stomach misery with a high fever as the cherry on top. BP just had a couple of tumors and flesh tags carved off but is both still feeling the anesthetic and is in pain and hasn't eaten anything.

	🦇 4:02pm Handy Haversack: Important things to remember: the single greatest source of violent crime in NYC is the cops, overwhelmingly and without question. And endemic violence exists only through their connivance. THIS incident is horrid and nightmarish and unbelievably awful for those involved and strikes at the sense of safety for all the rest of us. But that sense is and always will be false as long as we continue to allow a capitalist class to prey on us, a class that would rather see this happen every day in every town in the country rather than lose a single iota of its ability to extract and isolate maximum wealth no matter the human cost (indeed, predicated on the fact of human cost). The (cop) mayor and the mouthpiece reactionary news in NYC will cast this as an issue of "rising crime." And the center right will once more make brief noises about gun control. But that's a straw man. Systemic, racialized violence is the strategy of capitalism, and until we're united enough against the extractive classes, this is going to be among the smaller consequences we see week in, week out. Sorry. My borough so I get to say something this time.

Not COVID, some sort of stomach misery with a high fever as the cherry on top. BP just had a couple of tumors and flesh tags carved off but is both still feeling the anesthetic and is in pain and hasn't eaten anything.

	🦇 4:02pm Handy Haversack: Important things to remember: the single greatest source of violent crime in NYC is the cops, overwhelmingly and without question. And endemic violence exists only through their connivance. THIS incident is horrid and nightmarish and unbelievably awful for those involved and strikes at the sense of safety for all the rest of us. But that sense is and always will be false as long as we continue to allow a capitalist class to prey on us, a class that would rather see this happen every day in every town in the country rather than lose a single iota of its ability to extract and isolate maximum wealth no matter the human cost (indeed, predicated on the fact of human cost). The (cop) mayor and the mouthpiece reactionary news in NYC will cast this as an issue of "rising crime." And the center right will once more make brief noises about gun control. But that's a straw man. Systemic, racialized violence is the strategy of capitalism, and until we're united enough against the extractive classes, this is going to be among the smaller consequences we see week in, week out. Sorry. My borough so I get to say something this time.
