Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Well, with DJ approval:
Each year, I complete a 48 Hour Movie Marathon where I watch films for 48 consecutive hours and raise money for charity. In six years I have raised over $50,000.
This year, I am dedicating my movie marathon to support Trans Lifeline. The war that is being waged against the Trans community, and particularly against Trans children and their families, has struck me as uniquely unbearable. We live in a society where brutality against Trans people— public bigotry, economic discrimination, social marginalization, physical violence, and literal murder- is commonly accepted. Loving families being ripped apart by political theater that has horrible, real-world repercussions, young people in other families forced into an unsafe, unwelcoming world, and ridiculous, manufactured outrage making a true conversation about changing these situations untenable— the barriers to positive change keep getting reinforced, and instead of positive action toward creating a world that loves Trans people, time and resources are spent defending what should be basic human rights. And so, fighting against organized, cynical bigotry requires our engagement and support.
I can’t win elections in places in which I don’t live, I don’t have a multibillion dollar media empire to utilize in service of compassion and empathy, but I do have you, and together, I am hoping we can give to empower those doing the work on the front lines of this urgent crisis, in order to make a tangible difference in the lives of those who need our support.
This year’s 48 Hour Movie Marathon will take place May 27-29 and my theme is SCARY MONSTERS & SUPER CREEPS, focusing on horror films as a way to grapple with the real-life monsters we experience every day (more on the politics of horror as we go).
Unfortunately, the platform I need to use is Facebook for this fundraiser (but they pass along 100% of proceeds to the charity without taking a piece) as Trans Lifeline do not have a stand alone fundraising platform.
If you are inclined, I would appreciate any support and I will be live streaming my 48 hour movie marathon in May.

One of my favorite trips to old (and much mourned) Yankee Stadium was the first time K8's parents came to visit after she moved here, so like 2001, probably. MAYBE 2000. Her dad's a big Cardinals fan, met Musial, the works. But they are nice Baptists who have lived mostly in Seattle the past fifty years. I take them to a Red Sox-Yankees game, day game, on a weekend. We come up off the subway, and there's someone passed out on the stairs already. We're walking to the stadium as the shouts between the fans of home and visitor get more profane and intense, and her parents' eyes just get bigger and bigger and bigger. At the tenth or twelfth mothereffer tossed around, I look at them and say, "Yeah, it's kind of a big deal around here."
And the Yankees won! Posada with the big HR as I recall.
