Here's an issue, lets let an 'expert' talk...then you'd get McConnell spewing some crap that they would not push back agains. Their music stuff is worth supporting and I kind of miss This American Life, but that's about it.

	11:01am karlward: I was talking yesterday with a friend at NYU. The NYC colleges have had a pretty tough time, as you can imagine. The impacts of that are broad. One thing I didn't think about until that talk yesterday was how serious the negative impact is on the culture of departments and on campus clubs/groups. After a year or two of disruption, a lot of these groups (like WKCR) are almost certainly struggling to maintain institutional knowledge and the culture of the group, all while facing a stall in the pipeline of getting new folks interested in the group and trained to run the station. Major props to WFMU for somehow pulling off all of those things and making it look easy.

I crawled under the stage in order to try and meet the band. I failed, no Syd Straw autographs for me. 2. I want to see Melvins but I am forced to see Ministry also as they are on tour. Ministry is ok, Melvins are awesome. Its in Albquerque in Sunshine Theatre holds 300 people. Am I whining?

But I’ve worked exactly one gig in these past two and a half years. Uno. As much as I thought I’d throw in I just don’t feel like I can swing it right now. Love your show, Trouble. And many others. At some point on the near future I’ll be in. Back to Kafka’s “The Trial.” Put it aside for a while at the more dense passages. But as it was vying with other classics I had recently started, including Trumbo’s “Johnny Got His Gun” and Joyce’s “Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” it captivated once again. The chapter “Painter” had me in stitches with its explanation of how the opaque and nepotistic legal system is to be navigated, a labyrinth of anxiety, absurdity and despair. Thanks for what you do, Trouble. And to all the comrades here.

Here's an issue, lets let an 'expert' talk...then you'd get McConnell spewing some crap that they would not push back agains. Their music stuff is worth supporting and I kind of miss This American Life, but that's about it.

	11:01am karlward: I was talking yesterday with a friend at NYU. The NYC colleges have had a pretty tough time, as you can imagine. The impacts of that are broad. One thing I didn't think about until that talk yesterday was how serious the negative impact is on the culture of departments and on campus clubs/groups. After a year or two of disruption, a lot of these groups (like WKCR) are almost certainly struggling to maintain institutional knowledge and the culture of the group, all while facing a stall in the pipeline of getting new folks interested in the group and trained to run the station. Major props to WFMU for somehow pulling off all of those things and making it look easy.

At some point on the near future I’ll be in. Back to Kafka’s “The Trial.” Put it aside for a while at the more dense passages. But as it was vying with other classics I had recently started, including Trumbo’s “Johnny Got His Gun” and Joyce’s “Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” it captivated once again. The chapter “Painter” had me in stitches with its explanation of how the opaque and nepotistic legal system is to be navigated, a labyrinth of anxiety, absurdity and despair.
