According to Atlanta-based TV station WXIA-TV, the rocker died “in his sleep Saturday night (March 12) after years of struggling with multiple sclerosis.”
Originally the house band at Studio One recording studio in Doraville, Ga., Atlanta Rhythm Second officially became a band in 1970. Their debut album, a self-titled effort, would arrive in 1972 -- the first of 13 studio LPs that would be released across their five-decade career. Along the way, the group scored several Top 20 hits, including “So in to You,” "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight," "Imaginary Lover," "Do It or Die" and “Spooky.”
Bailey, the group’s founding guitarist, would play on every album until his retirement in 2006, the most successful of which was 1978’s platinum-selling Champagne Jam.
Over the years, Atlanta Rhythm Section shared the stage with a long list of rock legends, including the Who, the Rolling Stones, Bob Seger, Foreigner, Heart, Cheap Trick and Aerosmith.
A message posted to Atlanta Rhythm Section’s official Facebook page honored Bailey’s memory.
“Unsung. You heard that a lot when people would talk about Barry Bailey's guitar playing. That meant that not enough people were aware of his work,” the message read in part. “UNSUNG my ass… ..if you heard him, you sang his praises. Barry, you may have been unsung.. ...but you made others sing. Speaking for all of the original, former, and existing members of ARS… Thanks for setting the bar so high.”

Daylight saving time, in this or any other country, was never adopted to benefit farmers; it was first proposed by William Willett to the British Parliament in 1907 as a way to take full advantage of the day’s light. Germany was the first country to implement it, and the United States took up the practice in 1918 upon entering World War I, hypothetically to save energy (it was used again for this purpose for a short time during the oil crisis of the early 1970’s).
Farmers were extremely opposed to having to turn back and forward their clocks. In fact, according to National Geographic, farmers had a lobby that campaigned aggressively against Daylight Saving Time. The time change disrupted their schedules. For the farmer – and the plants and animals – it’s the sun and the seasons that determine the best times to do things. It also made it more difficult to get the most out of their hired help.
Imagine telling a dairy cow used to being milked at 5 a.m. that their milking time needs to move back an hour before the milk truck is coming to do a pickup.
The DST law from WWI was so unpopular with farmers, it was repealed in 1919. DST became a state option until 1942 when President Franklin Roosevelt instituted “War Time”, which was year-round daylight saving time. That ended after the war and for many years, cities and counties were allowed to make their own decisions on daylight saving time. That meant several towns in the same state could be on different schedules (talk about confusing!).

William Hurt’s son, Will, posted today that his father has died. It was announced in May 2018 that the elder Hurt had terminal prostate cancer that had spread to the bone.
William Hurt Remembered As A Giant Talent By His Peers In The Acting Community
“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday,” his son wrote. “He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes."

Hawaii abandoned the law in 1967 because, well, it just didn’t make sense. One of the benefits of daylight saving time is that there’s more daylight in the evening. But in Hawaii, the sun rises and sets at about the same time every day, TIME reports.
Arizona followed suit in 1968 because it also gets a lot of daylight year-round. Not setting clocks forward also ensures that there are lower temperatures during waking and bedtime hours. However, the Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona does observe daylight saving time so it can have a uniform time with parts of Navajo territory in Utah and New Mexico. A few U.S. territories also refrain from observing daylight saving time: the commonwealths of Puerto Rico and the Northern Marina Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Guam.
Some states have drafted bills to adopt daylight saving time year-round or end the practice altogether, but for now, most of the country still has to change its clocks twice a year. So yes, you have every right to be annoyed when March rolls around, but getting your body used to the time change doesn’t have to be a struggle.
