We had borrowed a radar detector, and thinking we were invincible, zoomed through the night at almost 100 mph. Out of nowhere, the detector goes nuts and a cop coming the other direction storms across the median and pulls us over. I joked that he'd come back and say we could just go. What luck! He just gave us a warning and we were back on our way.

The club is legendary alongside clubs like the 'Golden Torch' in Stoke, 'Blackpool Mecca' and 'Wigan Casino'. Northern soul reached the peak of its popularity in the mid to late 1970s. We had borrowed a radar detector, and thinking we were invincible, zoomed through the night at almost 100 mph. Out of nowhere, the detector goes nuts and a cop coming the other direction storms across the median and pulls us over. I joked that he'd come back and say we could just go. What luck! He just gave us a warning and we were back on our way.
