	♥ 3:35pm WR: Yes, Robm, some only allow a few sample cuts to be played without owning, but there is much much much you can listen to via web page.

	♥ 3:37pm WR: There are even some that only allow the first 30 seconds to be listened to but, at least for the artists I follow I've only seen that for a few albums. I think it is up to the artist or label who put the release on BC and it varies between releases, whatever they choose to allow.

	♥ 3:40pm Handy Haversack: Yeah, I have seen the artist dashboard, and you have total control over how much you want to allow to be streamed for free on the page.
	3:40pm Julie: it is THE Best place to buy music from.
	3:40pm HyperDose: I mean you could totes rip songs and albums at 128 like YouTube or SoundCould, but nothing beats that sweet sweet full fidelity of even a FLAC or even 320 file. That's why you need to rip from services like Tidal or Deezer.

	♥ 3:41pm dreamyandseedy: i like reading the comments on bandcamp and seeing everyone's favorite tracks. it's also easy to follow the artists and get updates on releases, easier than following on social media.

	🦇 ♥ 3:43pm Rich in Washington: I've shifted a huge amount of my musical purchasing since the pandammit and Bandcamp Fridays. I've only recently started downloading my purchases as FLACs, but the beauty of Bandcamp is I can go back and download my purchases again.

	3:44pm Julie: yes! I do that all the time, it's so easy to lose track of digital stuff. I also buy CDs and records from bandcamp. Almost always buy at least one physical release on BC Fridays

	3:45pm HyperDose: Since vinyl made a comeback, does that mean record stores have too? I love the smell of a fresh CD booklet.
	🦇 ♥ 3:45pm Rich in Washington: @Robm @3:34: some artists let you stream entire albums for free before buying and some only let you listen to a track or two, and some artists even put a cap on how many times you can listen to an album and you get a popup enticing you to buy instead. I find that last thing is rather rare, thoough.

	3:49pm Julie: the pricing of stuff on BC is very strange though. someone was selling a cassette for $5 and the digital for $5 as well. then you see digital albums for 12-13. I like that $8 seems to be the norm.

Go figure. Also, some labels do the same with vinyl purchases but not very often. It pays to look at the options before dropping the hammer.

Believe me, there were plenty of clumsy junior versions of this one.

	♥ 3:37pm WR: There are even some that only allow the first 30 seconds to be listened to but, at least for the artists I follow I've only seen that for a few albums. I think it is up to the artist or label who put the release on BC and it varies between releases, whatever they choose to allow.

	♥ 3:40pm Handy Haversack: Yeah, I have seen the artist dashboard, and you have total control over how much you want to allow to be streamed for free on the page.
	3:40pm Julie: it is THE Best place to buy music from.
	3:40pm HyperDose: I mean you could totes rip songs and albums at 128 like YouTube or SoundCould, but nothing beats that sweet sweet full fidelity of even a FLAC or even 320 file. That's why you need to rip from services like Tidal or Deezer.

	🦇 ♥ 3:43pm Rich in Washington: I've shifted a huge amount of my musical purchasing since the pandammit and Bandcamp Fridays. I've only recently started downloading my purchases as FLACs, but the beauty of Bandcamp is I can go back and download my purchases again.

	3:44pm Julie: yes! I do that all the time, it's so easy to lose track of digital stuff. I also buy CDs and records from bandcamp. Almost always buy at least one physical release on BC Fridays

	3:45pm HyperDose: Since vinyl made a comeback, does that mean record stores have too? I love the smell of a fresh CD booklet.

I find that last thing is rather rare, thoough.

Go figure. Also, some labels do the same with vinyl purchases but not very often. It pays to look at the options before dropping the hammer.
