The first Pizzatown in NJ holds a long history in our family. Our grandparents would bring us to the East Paterson [now Elmwood Park] location soon after the shop originated. For a long time the front of the pizza box contained a full-length food review from the Paterson MORNING CALL newspaper circa 1959. During the 1970s and 80s three Pizzatown locations flourished in North Jersey. The owner was a client of my Dad, who sold life insurance. Their Calzone remains unique in the industry.

Preston's musical career goes back a long way. He played the young W.C. Handy in the movie "St. Louis Blues" (haven't seen it) & appeared on Nat King Cole's (who played Handy in the movie) TV show at 11 (I assume that clip's online somewhere). As for "...Shadows" (the vampire mockumentary)---yes, try to see the movie first, which is great. The series is a different set of vampires (& is set in Staten Island! instead of New Zealand) but the first 2 seasons or so are better, & it makes more sense to watch it from the beginning. Berry & the other people are hysterical...and it's been renewed for a 4th season.

I cannot tell you how well that 500 songs podcast has helped put a lot of music in perspective. Having it be a timeline just worked for me. This Ray Charles is a good example. And I didn't know that Ashford and Simpson wrote for him. Damn.

@Clarke The NFL just seems to power through no matter what. I watch the Saints and a couple weeks ago they could barely field a team, let alone be competitive, but the NFL doesn't care. Not cool for paying customers, I don't think.

Yeah interesting in that GarageRawk might in one sense be what Rawk would be without Dylan & Rawk becoming 'serious' or 'Art'. & then there's Mouse&Traps... So that's not entirely it... Dylan Going Electric & ticking people off on purpose was in one sense the most Punk thing ever... Garage riffed on the Class theme a lot - & that jibes with Dylan as 'Protest Singer'... A lot of what we now call 'Garage' is from the later 1960s anyhow - which is odd, really. As they say - it's the precious & anointed space between FratRawk like 'LouieLouie' & everything getting Heavy & Serious & Arty...
