Well anyhow Clay Pigeon knew of skyline chili that was made made in Cincinnati, so he called me that.

Was sad to have learned, after relishing taking home an actual Village Voice newspaper off the stand going into a venerable organic shop in Astoria, that writer Greg Tate passed away a few weeks ago. Sat down at kitchen table with a chicory coffee espresso and a vegan blueberry muffin and was reading and folding the few pages that it is (but hey, it is again!), happily getting newsprint on my fingertips once again - only to open to a four-page spread on Tate, the place where he write for decades. Lots of good links on Twitter also to more obituaries. Went up to Revolution Books in Harlem a few years ago for his last book release. What a gentle and open soul. So sad.

	5:15pm Frank Zaatar: @Skyline: Zaatar is a Middle-Eatern blend of hyssop/oregano, thyme, sumac, sesame seeds, and more spices. You can put it on pita and labneh, season chicken, etc. with it. In Jerusalem (and a lot of other places) you get it in little newspaper packets when you get those ring-shaped "beigeles" (that aren't really bagels) on the street. BYW, you can get frozen Skyline Chili--at your own risk.

Imagine heating up bread, putting some olive oil on it and then putting some zaatar on that. Really good stuff! Some middle eastern markets sell pita bread with zaatar already on it.

I’m hanging out with my 96 year old Grandfather right now, who is a Holocaust survivor. Last time he saw his parents he was 13. His father sent him out of Germany on a kindertransport & he lived on a farm in the UK till he volunteered for the British Army at 18 years old.

Well anyhow Clay Pigeon knew of skyline chili that was made made in Cincinnati, so he called me that.

Was sad to have learned, after relishing taking home an actual Village Voice newspaper off the stand going into a venerable organic shop in Astoria, that writer Greg Tate passed away a few weeks ago. Sat down at kitchen table with a chicory coffee espresso and a vegan blueberry muffin and was reading and folding the few pages that it is (but hey, it is again!), happily getting newsprint on my fingertips once again - only to open to a four-page spread on Tate, the place where he write for decades. Lots of good links on Twitter also to more obituaries. Went up to Revolution Books in Harlem a few years ago for his last book release. What a gentle and open soul. So sad.

	5:15pm Frank Zaatar: @Skyline: Zaatar is a Middle-Eatern blend of hyssop/oregano, thyme, sumac, sesame seeds, and more spices. You can put it on pita and labneh, season chicken, etc. with it. In Jerusalem (and a lot of other places) you get it in little newspaper packets when you get those ring-shaped "beigeles" (that aren't really bagels) on the street. BYW, you can get frozen Skyline Chili--at your own risk.

Imagine heating up bread, putting some olive oil on it and then putting some zaatar on that. Really good stuff! Some middle eastern markets sell pita bread with zaatar already on it.
