Jim Alaimo was the cousin of Steve Alaimo. Steve grew up in Rochester, had a group, the Redcoats with Jim, and went on to host Where The Action Is!, amongst other things.
Wilmer and the dukes, Geneva: In Geneva, there were two kinds of kids. Those who went to 'Wilmer' and those who didn't." may have been the inspiration for Otis Day and the Knights. It was at the "Holiday Bar and Grille" in 1963 that they were first heard by future Blue Öyster Cult vocalist Eric Bloom. He became a fan of the band, attending over 100 performances, and stayed close with them for years. In 1967, his own student band, Lost and Found, opened for the Dukes when they played at his campus, Hobart College, and they also came to perform at his fraternity, Tau Kappa Epsilon.
The Humans, Albion: first dug up and featured on Back From the Grave vol5

and my friend had a band called Serious, but they never released anything. But my band does a song called We're Not Serious that mentions the Bug Jar and the Can of Worms...
I wanted to like the Thunder Gods, but they were too much Stones and not enough garage, to my ears.

I am half-thinking of the Bloody Hollies, because they sounded a bit like the Bloddy Hollies, but with a Raspberries injection.
Projectiles? I don't think so. Hmmmm

But really, the Syracuse music scene has really always tended more toward roots music, jazz, jam bands, and mainstream rock. My dad was a drummer in several local jazz and standards groups.
