@Dayffid When we were young, keyboards were connected to mechanic devices that printed directly to paper. If you made a typo, you either had to live with it, or retype the whole page, or get out your bottle of white liquid and paint over the mistake, retype, continue.

Women who could reliably type whole page without white out got jobs as secretaries. Men who could reliably type a whole page without errors were assumed to be gay.

It was another era.

McGroovy - I’m with you on the Verve song. I feel like like I’m being emotionally manipulated when I listen to that song. Sell that album!
side note - are cd’s from the 90’s worth money these days?

McGroovey - worked St Marks Books (13 St marks ) from '82-'87 ... had stopped buying records (FMU and NYU and KCR...) but drank some lunches at Grassroots ... They forgot I was thrown out in '79 when I fell asleep in the window seat ...on my last H. Clean 42 years = coffee tea beer and wine ... and good food!!

McGroovey:

@Dayffid No one wants CDs, except stuff that can't be had any other way, I suppose.

I still buy CDs, for the same reason (in reverse) that I still bought LPs in the '90s: new CDs are cheaper than new LPs, and used CDs are really cheap.

Krys O.:

I need to find a better way to rip my CDs. The external drive I bought last year kinda sorta sux.

Hi Pseu and fellow hookers. I’m currently on my lunch break at the corporate holiday party I’m working at metropolitan pavilion tonight. I’m feeling super nostalgic for the WFMU record fairs that I worked/attended here years ago

One of the better Byrds covers.

Dayffid:

Mc grooved - I still like to buy cd’s too. They’re cheap and have music on them! I wondered if things like certain original releases had become valuable, but I guess not then.

CDs really work for me....love them . I'm older and never made the transition to online music

I buy CDs occasionally. Bought a _ton_ of digital stuff from Bandcamp over the last couple of years. Gotta say, I don't really love having to scroll through on my phone to find something on the server.

Gerry from Miami:

Anyone here ever check their "burned" CDs that you made in the 80s? Any data "missing?". My electronics whiz friends tell me that is a real possibility. Remember the advertising slogan that was used for CDs? PERFECT SOUND, FOREVER! Hmmm.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm
McGroovey:

Old used CDs will start getting valuable when people realize they're not seeing ratty used CDs everywhere anymore for 50¢.

In about 1991 I bought clean copies of every pre-1990 Neil Young album for a total of $15, because everyone was dumping their perfect LPs to replace them with CDs (except the 2 or 3 that Neil refused to reissue).

My teenage daughter wants to know why didn't but all the Queen albums then also.

DJs weirdly never mention the free app. It’s how I listen to WFMU 95% of the time unless I’m in the car.

Still haven't...

OK. I'm starting to think I am...

Always wanted to pick up that series of covers records that Matthew Sweet made with Susanna Hoffs, but never got around to it. Some selections I heard on the radio sounded excellent. And Sweet's "Girlfriend" album is one of my all-time faves.
