Doug, I saw Spielberg's West Side Story this week. That there was a work of love.

I weeped through the whole thing. I've read some reasonable criticisms of the film, but I mostly loved it. (In the wake of Sondheim's passing, I think I would have loved almost anything.)

I deamt a boy next door was playing bagpipes in the driveway, preparing for some event for which a crude shell of stage and shelter had been built on his front porch. I held a hand close to the window to give him thumbs up.
Interprematate THAT.

Robert, you can organize a Porchfest (Terracefest) like some towns have. Needn't be a porch. Steps, yards, driveways, etc. used as casual performing spaces for musicians. Organized by a few neighborhood residents. Folks wander spot to spot, performers aren't paid. It's just an early autumn community feelgood afternoon. A friend of mine has judged the local version as all too precious and privileged. But it seems worthwhile to me.
PAULS:
Doug Schulkind:
Thanks. I'm always searching for just the right title for the playlist. You helped me with this one.
