Thank you for playing Cz.K. Sebő today! I don't know for sure what "Felzizeg" means--I will find out and let you know--but "zizeg" means "buzz" or "rustle," and the prefix "fel-" often means "out loud" when it precedes a verb having to do with a sound, so I think "felzizeg" means "it rustles out loud," or "it buzzes forth," or something along those lines.

I'm sorry if I missed this but what does the word "Lillibulero" mean?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
David Dichelle:

Hello Carmichael and Michael!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Handy Haversack:

Marie, WikiP says: "The song's title and the words of the refrain have been interpreted as a garbled version of the Irish words Lile ba léir é, ba linn an lá, "Lilly was clear and ours was the day". "
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Handy Haversack:

"The lily may be a reference to the fleur de lis of France, or to the most celebrated astrologer of the mid seventeenth century, William Lilly, who became well known for prophesy at this time and to whom could readily be attributed foreknowledge that a Catholic would be king of England.[7] Alternatively, the lyrics could mean, "Lilly is clear [about this], the day will be ours". It is also thought that "Lilli" is a familiar form of William, and that bullero comes from the Irish "Buaill Léir ó", which gives: "William defeated all that remained".

Professor Breandán Ó Buachalla has claimed that they are a garbled version of the Irish sentence "Leir o, Leir o, leir o, leiro, Lilli bu leir o: bu linn an la, " which he translates as "Manifest, manifest, manifest, manifest, Lilly will be manifest, the day will be ours" referring to a possible prophecy of an Irish victory by the astrologer William Lilly.[8] "

Handy Haversack:

The very first time we ever traveled, back in 2000, after I'd won some money, we stayed for a few nights with the family of a woman K8 was waiting tables with. They lived in a villa outside of Florence. Its oldest parts were from the eleventh century. Her parents were sculptors, so there was art everywhere, and the family was reclaiming an olive orchard, so fresh oil was everywhere. Anyway, we went out with her sister and her BF to a "casa dei popolo." As it was explained to us, the communist partisans were much stronger around Tuscany, and when Mussolini fell, they stepped in and helped run things. So these were collective restaurants that would open on the weekends just so the farmers and people in these tiny towns could have a place to be together on the weekends for food, drink, dancing. So great. Massive plates of food for the equivalent of $2. And it was a Friday night, so fish for everyone. When I tried to get by just eating bread, Paolo took me with him back into the kitchen and explained everything, and minutes later I had a FEAST of porcini pasta. Fantastic experience. And a great collective endeavor that feels increasingly unreal in a more and more atomized-by-capitalism world.

Handy, I stayed at an old olive farm outside of Sienna. It was fun to cook in the farm house kitchen. One day I was going to grill rabbit outside, but it started raining like crazy so I cooked them on a spit in the living room fireplace. It's good to eat like a savage when everyone is drunk on local Italian wine.

Biggest issue I have since we moved to Annapolis is the dearth of decent ethnic foods. There are a couple good Indian places, a good Thai restaurant/donut shop, some random sushi, and good Mexican place in a gas station (the Mexxon). No Korean, no Ethiopian, no Brazilian. Going out to dinner tonight and the closest thing we could find to unique food is an oyster bar.
