Hello Sean, βrian, james, David and all listening in and digging the music today!

Did you ever find out what all that equipment was doing on the side of the road?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:05pm

Hello Irene & cold bodies everywhere.
Never really got down wind of The Fifth Dimension.

Hi Irene et al!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
David (in London):

Yes, love the photo. With some decent hats we could recreate a Cormac McCarthy novel with all that vintage equipment.

*remembers what usually happens in a Mark McCarthy novel*

Mmm, on second thoughts, maybe not...

Irene Trudel:

Hey Robert, Brian and WHenry! Rober, those tractors are all in someone's driveway outside Phoenicia, NY. He restores and sells them. But I spied them on our drive home and had to take pictures.

TonyR:

Are L and R in stereo balance today? Certain elements of 1st 2 tracks were shouting, others held back. But I'm not usually on Bluetooth for this show, so IDK.

Listener Robert:

Sounds OK on this laptop...to my tin ear, TonyR.

Thanks for the taste of Beatles' LIB..N. Red-headed stepchild of their oeuvre.

Listener Robert:

Thanks, Irene. It's been many years since I've been up that way. We used to go thru there on the way to Maben's Airport in Prattsville to shoot in the Catskill Mtn. Pyrotechnics Ass'n.

Thanks, LR. I will jiggle the handle here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm

Hey Tony! That Fifth Dimension track was severely out of whack. An early days of stereo mix, remastered by Apple not in a good way.

@Sylvia, is that the three parter directed by Peter Jackson?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:18pm

GB apparently not enjoyable for people who did not turn motion-smoothing off on their TV sets.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:20pm

There are some killer memes out there now taken from screenshots of "Get Back". And that's all that really matters.

Hi Sylvia, Brian, David, Michael, and Stanley! Sylvia, we just watched Get Back while visiting friends in The Catskills. Loved it too, despite the length. Some great insights into their creative process (and the frustrations of dealing with each other). TonyR, I'm thinking of subscribing for just a month for that reason, so I can watch it again.

Hi Irene and and fellow listeners.. Glad to be here on this cold, grey, rainy/snowy Monday. Feeling George's spirit strongly today. Twenty years since his passing.. where did the time go?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
Brian in UK:

Michael Lindsey-Hogg's work on Ready! Steady! Go! in the Sixties was very influencial on pop music programmes to follow. He was on a hiding to nothing making a Beatles doc just before the breakup.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
prguitar:

I'm with you and TonyR on subscribing Irene.. I know that watching multiple times is a given.. Actually quite a
bargain at $7.99!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm

Thanks for mentioning George, prguitar! I didn't realize today was the anniversary of his passing. Maybe next week I'll do a more substantial tribute.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
prguitar:

You're most welcome Irene! It's still really easy to lose all track of time... the hours seem to go fast especially late at night, or more accurately in the very early morning.. I'm still having trouble knowing what day it is.. pandemic brain? Or is it just fatigue with what is? Actually, everyone at WFMU doing their schduled weekly shows helps tremendously, except when multiple fill ins are frequent, or if I forget to look at the program schedule each day! Not being employed also weighs heavily in the mix.. All things must pass..

Irene - thank you! Very minor typo in the title for that song: it's actually "Expected Viking, Becoming Cyclonic" (Expected not "expecting). We were listening a lot to BBC Radio 4's Shipping Forecast at the time... x

Hi David. Joe McG played John Otway and there was a bit of chat about him. I mentioned 'Otway The Movie', which I haven't seen yet but it's lined up on Netflix. You familiar?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
David (in London):

Wotcha Stanley. I am a Netflix-free zone, so sadly I've not seen it. I'll wager it's a hoot, though?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Sean - same here! First heard it when visiting London for the first time (like '96, maybe?!) and loved it immediately. Used to tape so many shows - especially Peel's and Andy Kershaw, Late Junction and end with the Shipping Forecast. Last March we were listening to a loop of The Shipping Forecast every night, probably the entire month, and that phrase "Expected Viking, Becoming Cyclonic" got in our head. We didn't actually sample anything from the Shipping Forecast itself but it did inspire... x
