Travelogue was a revelation to me - listening to it anew a few yers back. What had seemed overreaching seemed very daring. Maybe I'm just old now, too and can understand it better. But the music is really devine. So many great writers involved - Herbie and Wayne among many others.

I have a friend, a musician in California that owns a club so that he has a place to play. His house band is/was comprised of himself on guitar, Abe Laboriel Jr. on bass (who's son is Paul McCartney's drummer), James Gadson on drums (who's brother Thomas played guitar on that Joe Turner record, and the late Mike Finnigan on keyboards.

The credits listed on this discogs page for the Longhair on the Queen Mary recording seems appropriate. Will Harvey was his guitarist around that time. Wonder if anyone knowledgeable wrote up their experience of being there.
