I have a friend who has worked for the ATF for years and he is a kind, thoughtful, and empathetic person. I just reached out to tell him I appreciate him.
While not traditional military, today is a good reason to let anyone doing such or similar work that you appreciate them.

His father had served for Germany in WW1 and they owned a upholstery shop, a furniture making store.
He was 13. Last time he saw his parents. When the Nazi’s put the foreman in charge of the shop, my Grandpa’s father sent him out of Germany on one of the last Kindertransports.
He lived on a farm in England till he was 17 or 18 when he joined the army.
Also, He’s been a yankee fan “since I saw the movie” about Lou Gehrig. 1942 pride of the Yankees. He was able to immigrate to America in 1948 or so
He’s 96!!!!! Love you Grandpa!!

It’s from a bomb that landed on the farm he was living at in England.
