...' a tremendous second hour with Joy Division’s 1978 Arrow Studios RCA Sessions '...
This is the album Joy Division did *before* their 'first album'
- because they had to change labels & it wasn't released...
Most probly think it still too 'Punk' & not enuff yet what JoyDivision would come to pioneer
- which is true, but I find it interesting for just that ! :

Anyone who thinks Joy Division is a depressed goth band is a lazy listener. They're a kick ass rock band. There's nothing depressing at all about any of their music. I think if you scratch a little under the surface it's easy to discover that the bands members were trying to create the best rock music the only way they knew how.

Also in the "talking about Joy Division during air travel" tip, many years ago I was waiting at the gate for a plane back to NYC and it turned out that Moby was sitting right across from me. This was probably 1997 or so. Anyway, all we talked about was Joy Division! He had just done a cover of "New Dawn Fades" and I asked him how he came to cover that song. This is back when you never saw a Joy Division shirt anywhere, so any time you found out someone was into Joy Division you were like two Americans meeting in a country where no one speaks your language.

Creamo: I have a funny story about Moby I can tell here. One day I was crossing Houston St. with a bandmate and this huge black SUV almost ran us down in the crosswalk. My bandmate said something to the effect of "OH MY GOD" because we almost got killed, and then we looked at the driver and she said, "wait, is that Moby?" It was Moby, and he did that thing famous people do when they are recognized, you know, look away and think "please don't recognize me, please don't recognize me..." Anyway, he still owned Teany, the fancy tea shop around the corner from that intersection. I have always wondered if he parked his huge SUV, removed a fancy bike from the back, and then rode the bike the last couple blocks to the tea shop, you know, just to keep up appearances.

Today is that day I learn these :

When routine bites hard,
And ambitions are low,
And resentment rides high,
But emotions won't grow,
And we're changing our ways,
Taking different roads.

Then love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.

Why is the bedroom so cold?
You've turned away on your side.
Is my timing that flawed?
Our respect runs so dry.
Yet there's still this appeal
That we've kept through our lives.

But love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.

You cry out in your sleep,
All my failings exposed.
And there's a taste in my mouth,
As desperation takes hold.
Just that something so good
Just can't function no more.

But love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again.
