I was really happy that I’d dodged a state test administration duty today and was instead assigned to “the auditorium w/ seniors”. Then found out that the frustrated seniors aren’t testing, or having any class today. Instead they are coming in at the regular 7:30 am for “meetings”. Understandable frustration as the precedent is that they wouldn’t come into school at all on days like this. Looks like I have some SOOTHING to do!

In the early 80s when I first got cable, there was this obscure TV evangelist who was pressing the opinion that satanic music is permeating the minds of his viewers teenage children. One of those songs was The Cure's, "The Blood." Wednesday's song - Fascination Street - no comment today.

I was really happy that I’d dodged a state test administration duty today and was instead assigned to “the auditorium w/ seniors”. Then found out that the frustrated seniors aren’t testing, or having any class today. Instead they are coming in at the regular 7:30 am for “meetings”. Understandable frustration as the precedent is that they wouldn’t come into school at all on days like this. Looks like I have some SOOTHING to do!

More trivia for those unaware that album was recorded at Fridmann's studio while Flaming Lips were producing The Soft Bulletin, and Rev's Jonathan Donahue had played guitar with them during a hiatus.

In re: Artist of the Week - The Cure: Monday comment - F-I-R-E-I-N-C-A-I-R-O Tuesday - "The Blood" - I've told this story before. In the early 80s when I first got cable, there was this obscure TV evangelist who was pressing the opinion that satanic music is permeating the minds of his viewers teenage children. One of those songs was The Cure's, "The Blood." Wednesday's song - Fascination Street - no comment today.

I was in seventh grade in the back of a Plymouth Horizon on a crazy family trip that went from Philly to DC to Minnasota and then down to Flordia. On the way through Nashville I tuned in my first college radio station and I heard the remix version of this song. Changed my life. I started the trip taping Aerosmith and ended it taping the cure on a little red juke box.
