Speaking of Feng shui - people have posited it in terms of - can you relate to the feeling of just walking in a room - & having a certain feeling about it? Uplifting - or disturbing, say. Possibly because of what has happened there. & they say - just imagine that turned up to 10 or 11 - & you've got a Haunting. Of course there is the general idea that a Ghost is a traumatized Spirit who has not moved on / transitioned after death.
Someone in my feed on faceborg is dressing rather dramatically as a scary clown for the season - & mentioned the Evil Clown Scare in 2016. Which I had forgotten - but seemed @ the time obviously as a collective expression of Election Anxiety.

Very interesting ...there is the Jungian idea of the Symbolic Life : we tend to compartmentalize our conscious rational ego mind from the image(s) of the world (Imago Mundi) that we carry around without reflection... But here is considering the sort of Somatic dimension of this whole 'mental' thing... This is I think where Shamans come in. There is the sense in which indigenous societies speak of Medicine - which we usually confuse with our allopathic & literal definition...

The Zombie archetype has certainly taken hold of imaginations more & more.
One of my favorite books is 'The Monster Show : A cultural history of Horror' by David J. Skal about exactly this - how the genre reflects repressed elements of the collective psyche.
This origin of the Zombie symbol as commonly related to in Imperialism & Industrialism is very interesting !
