	🥁 5:47pm Discotech Underground: High Flying Bird was mostly a JA live track. They recorded it but didn't include it on the first LP. It came out on the Early Flight LP. Other than that Signe did not do lead vocals like Grace would end up doing.

	6:08pm StringOFperils: Big Brother DID get another vocalist after Janis left. Kathi McDonald, who went on to be part of Leon Russell's SHELTER People, and other things. Her solo LP, Insane Asylum is really good.
	6:11pm chris in the redwoods: around the time Janis was a living over the hill, my house was the home for Boogie Amplifiers. they were built and assembled here for a time, until Dave and co outgrew the place.

	6:14pm David Shortell: In the 90's, Big Brother used to play on occasional Thursday nights at Manny's Car Wash in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Peter Albin told me he thought Kathi was an overly passionate singer. Ironic, considering whose shoes she filled!
	6:15pm bigplanetnoise: I love Big Brother, but Janis wanted a band that could lay down a track in less than 75 takes. By time they got it, she was weary. You should hear her voice on the early, unreleasable Big Brother takes.

	6:23pm bigplanetnoise: Hahahaha! I’d never do that! I got the best of it out there. The most astounding find I had was the Winterland concert - why THAT wasn’t issued in ‘68 defies all logic! It’s the most incredible Big Brother performance ever, bar none.
	🥁 6:23pm Discotech Underground: Chris-Picking a Sandy Denny cut was the hardest part of putting this entire show together. How do you pick from Fairport, Fotheringay and her solo lps? I went with this track because it has personnel from both Fairport and Fotheringay.

	6:31pm David Shortell: I remember when the “Farewell Song” album came out in the 80’s. Among the Joplin songs it compiled was “The Magic of Love”, a live Big Brother track that I loved. However, I believe one of the members (James Gurley maybe?) criticised the recording for being tampered with somehow.

Discotech Underground is actually two...two...two shows in one!

The first half is a "Happy Hour" of sorts (because it's five o'clock somewhere, right?), spinning the kinds of sounds you might have heard at a real, authentic 1960's DISCOTECH as cool cats and swingin' chicks danced the night away in their mod threads and mini skirts to hard-driving sounds under the flashing lights! The only thing missing are the cage dancers...but we're working on it!

The second half is for when you head home after a wild night, and ease in with the heady, trippy, mind-expanding sounds of a groovy free-form UNDERGROUND rock radio station that digs deep into their library and blows your mind all over again!

	6:31pm David Shortell: I remember when the “Farewell Song” album came out in the 80’s. Among the Joplin songs it compiled was “The Magic of Love”, a live Big Brother track that I loved. However, I believe one of the members (James Gurley maybe?) criticised the recording for being tampered with somehow.
