Hey Handy, oh... so at least I will have clarity about my degree of rightness if I get it right. And here I thought I was choosing a really unlikely country to choose, but I guess that's true randomness... I loves me some heavy metal, like Gevolt..

( heh ' The name Lada is derived from lada, a type of small boat in Slavic language' )
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Handy Haversack:

Could "Niva" be related to the river Neva? Or is that too cute?
Avatar 1:38pm
Will in Norman:

from the wikipedia article on the car: "Нива[10] (niva) is a Russian word, literally: "(corn) field", but also meaning "area of practice". The name Niva (НИВА) was formed as an acronym from the initials[11] (first letters) of the names of the children of the Niva's chief designers, Pyotr Prusov's two daughters, and Solovyov's two sons."
Avatar 1:39pm
Will in Norman:

so ladaniva could be interpreted to mean 'cornfield boat'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm

Hey Will! Yes, that still places the name firmly in the cute category.

Hey David, I'm reading a novel set in Germany by an author I mentioned on a playlist a couple of weeks ago that I was telling you about. It's really good--"The History of Curried Sausage" by Uwe Timm--so far, it's mostly about the end of WW2 there--a real slice of life

there was also a noticeable jazz influence. The combination of jazz with middle eastern maqam music always brings Rabih Abou Khalil to mind for me, as his work is a prime example of how well the 2 genres complement each other, so 1 of his songs was a great follow-up
