I also saw some Isley LP back cover (or was it one of those unofficial Jimi ones?). Story: The Isleys played Jamaica. During an intermission Jimi snuck out, was playing feedback improv to the audience. One of the Isleys came out, realized Jimi was Ahead.

Seeing Jimi on Top of the Pops was a real eyeopener. I can still recall hearing The Wind... sometime in May around 8.30pm on the radio. I was so impressed that he could play something so seemingly simple; especially as I am not an electric guitar fan, unless played by an African.

I still think the major unsung hero of the Jimi Hendrix story is Chas Chandler. It's amazing to see what Jimi was up to throughout 1966 in and around NYC, but once Chas gets his to London, there is no wasting time. Chas really had the vision here. He really didn't sit on hands with any aspect of launching the Experience. Many years ago, Mojo mag did a day-by-day account of Hendrix's moves once he landed in London in late 1966 culminating with his Monterey performance in June 1967 -- it really was an incredible string of events.

Hi Larry, digging the Jimi today. I remember a Dylan interview (don't remember from where) and Dylan was basically trashing musicians that covered other musicians songs, mainly his songs. The interviewer asked Dylan what he thought of Jimi covering All Along the Watchtower. To which Dylan replied that was an exception. . . that Jimi had more right to play the song than he himself did haha
