They're OK. Shook up, but the house seems to be OK (aside from some big trees resting on the roof). No power, but my nephew set them up with a generator

They got nailed by a tornado. Lots of damaged houses,

Crazy to have what's left of Hurricane Idea and a tornado at the same time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
Funky16Corners:

We never get tornado outbreaks like this storm. It was wild. Rain totals ran from 2 to 11 inches yesterday. That's insane. I think most of the deaths from the storm were from flooding

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
Phillippe:

It was crazy here, Larry. Fairly calm and light rain most of the day, then BOOM. I'm willing to bet 95% of the rain came down in two bursts lasting no more than an hour. The foot of water in the crabbing boat didn't start accumulating until the wind blew it over from the tree it was leaning against

Cycle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
Funky16Corners:

Yes! Cycle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Funky16Corners:

@Phillippe - It was like that west of here. Just insane deluges that the sewer/runoff systems are not built for. Lots of swamped cars, filled basements etc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Funky16Corners:

Hey Dreamy!
Avatar 3:25pm
YETI BOB:

hey Erica!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
Phillippe:

@Larry Our house is pretty much built on sand and we're only about 30 yards from a river, so when we get a storm like this the water table rises enough that the basement floor gets damp from the bottom up. Our dehumidifier goes straight to the sump pump because we could never keep up if we have to empty it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm
Funky16Corners:

We live very close to a river but we're up on a bluff, the highest point in the neighborhood.
Avatar 3:32pm
still b/p:

Check this minute of video if you get a chance. Five years old of a DC subway entrance -- from a piece about the increasing subway susceptibility (everywhere!) to flooding.
If I watched water cascading down the entry escalator like that, I don't believe I'd be going down in there with it!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Funky16Corners:

Hey sbp! I saw similar video of the NYC subway yesterday. That water must be insanely toxic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
Phillippe:

That's good. We are like 8-10 ft up at ground level, but with a 7 foot ceiling in the basement, the floor is only about 1-3 ft from the typical high tide height.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm
Funky16Corners:

BTW this is the 'I Only Have Eyes For You' Flamingos
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm

@still b/p I agree, I'd walk in the rain...

CalZone!:

Just tuning in Larry 'Hurricane' Grogan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Funky16Corners:

@Phillippe - Where we are, the river is basically an extension of the Manasquan Inlet (we're only a few miles in from the ocean) and the closer you get to ther shore, the closer the houses get to the water. Especially south of us, their on a very thin barrier island, wher there was immense damage during Hurricane Sandy

There's a local cannabis place -- almost said "joint" -- called Beach Boys Cannabis. I'd think the BB lawyers would not be cool with that. Entirely different industries, but consumers in the marketplace could mayyyybe be confused...maybe? "Well, they were cool. Maybe they're in THIS cool business nationally now!"
