	5:10pm Gina Bacon: I've always heard stories about people giving guitars to other artists, and I didn't know that was a Nashville tradition until Mary Gauthier talked about it in her tribute to Nanci, who gave her one during her early days here in Nashville.

	5:21pm Gina Bacon: My little old Stella has gotten played more in the last few weeks than she has in a long time, thanks to the guitar playing guests who've picked her up to play. I didn't know that Bob Dylan was a fan of them until Scot Sax told me!

	5:27pm coelacanth∅: Gina i pretty much never get rid of musical instruments! (except once when i stupidly sold an accordian and a set of bongos) i use it. i make plenty of noise, just i don't play "normally"!

	5:28pm Gina Bacon: That's my approach too, coelacanthø. I love to plunk around on the piano, too.

	5:30pm Gina Bacon: I have my grandfather's banjolele (we call it the banjo uke) and a dulcimer my mother bought me when I was a young hippie.

	5:35pm StringOFperils: I've been playing more guitar lately; I think I'm actually starting to get it working. I think it was when the dog knocked my el-00 over and snapped the mahogany headstock right off. It made me stubborn about it, so I got another abused little parlour guitar, adjusted the truss-rod myself, put some nice strings on it and....magic.

	5:37pm Gina Bacon: Ouch, StringOfPerils! But glad that it had a good outcome!
	5:39pm Gina Bacon: My brother's got a grand piano that lived in many Brooklyn apartments, and moved across country to Seattle a few years ago! That's a commitment!
	5:39pm Gina Bacon: Many stair rails were disassembled to get that thing up and down stairs.

	5:48pm Gina Bacon: The album was put out by the drummer...John Mctigue III. He's played with lots of folks, and it's an interesting smapler of his styles. He's definitely high in that mix!

	5:53pm Gina Bacon: Hahaha! I love it. This guy is a really great steel guitar player...and has an Instagram called The Wingdom, where he reviews...wings. Very funny.

	6:05pm doctorjazz: Nobody gave me a guitar, but I got my 1st in High School trading in 50 books of Plaid Stamps (has stations and some stores used to give them with purchased, you pasted them in a book and got a catalog, you could trade stamps for items). It had awful action, and, over time, the neck Bent into a "c" shape.
	6:07pm Gina Bacon: I remember those stamps, doctorjazz! I got something crappy with them, too. A radio, I think! Fuzzy memories...

	6:25pm coelacanth∅: when my mother got the word that plaid stamps were being discontinued we all sat around the dining room sticking them into the books. added it up. we each got to choose whatever we wanted. i don't remember my siblings' choices but i got a small electric organ -which i guess is another instrument i let go of. it never stopped working. my mother chose a vacuum cleaner, a blender and...1 or 2 other things. that vacuum cleaner and blender were with us for years.

	6:57pm prguitar: Giving away guitars seems pretty universal especially amongst musicians who don't have to worry paying the rent. One of the most endearing stories I've heard was when Albert Lee joined Eric Clapton's band. Albert used to have a Les Paul custom.. it was his first great guitar..by the time he joined Eric's band he no longer had it.. he was playing Tele's through Fender amps.. so he and Eric are talking about guitars during a break in rehearsals, and he mentioned his beloved black Les Paul custom. Clapton nodded his head, and said 'I think I have one of those around here somewhere.. At rehearsal the very next day, Eric came in carrying the same vintage Les Paul case. He gave the case to Albert here this is for you. Albert couldn't believe his eyes, it was exactly the same model Les Paul Custom he had owned..if I recall it was the same year as well! Someone should write a book about the tradition!!

	6:25pm coelacanth∅: when my mother got the word that plaid stamps were being discontinued we all sat around the dining room sticking them into the books. added it up. we each got to choose whatever we wanted. i don't remember my siblings' choices but i got a small electric organ -which i guess is another instrument i let go of. it never stopped working. my mother chose a vacuum cleaner, a blender and...1 or 2 other things. that vacuum cleaner and blender were with us for years.

	6:57pm prguitar: Giving away guitars seems pretty universal especially amongst musicians who don't have to worry paying the rent. One of the most endearing stories I've heard was when Albert Lee joined Eric Clapton's band. Albert used to have a Les Paul custom.. it was his first great guitar..by the time he joined Eric's band he no longer had it.. he was playing Tele's through Fender amps.. so he and Eric are talking about guitars during a break in rehearsals, and he mentioned his beloved black Les Paul custom. Clapton nodded his head, and said 'I think I have one of those around here somewhere.. At rehearsal the very next day, Eric came in carrying the same vintage Les Paul case. He gave the case to Albert here this is for you. Albert couldn't believe his eyes, it was exactly the same model Les Paul Custom he had owned..if I recall it was the same year as well! Someone should write a book about the tradition!!
