	10:18pm doctorjazz: Been lucky, no rain/storms the whole time I was in the Berkshires. Tonight, as I'm about 1 block from my house, it starts pouring, lightning, etc, but overall I lucked out!
	10:20pm bigplanetnoise: I actually like the rubber stamp, and all that kind of stuff. It just makes a record more soulful. Names written on jackets or labels (neatly) never bothered me at all.

	🥁 10:27pm WLSClark: dr, you have to admit that not many labels have had so much talk about their vinyl like RCA Dynaflex, right? Those Guess Who Lps have zero E.D. if you get my drift. They just straighten right out. ;)

	10:33pm doctorjazz: I know Classical LP collectors avoid Dynaflex if they can, but didn't realize it was outsourced to other labels/genres.
	🥁 10:35pm Discotech Underground: doctorjazz-RCA did contract pressings for other labels all the time. Classical collectors avoid Dynaflex and Dynagroove pressings because they are too noisy for their discriminating ears.
	10:35pm StringOFperils: My copy of BB KIng's Indianola Mississippi Seeds, on ABC, I think, is on Dynaflex...and it is disturbingly flexible....not even sure why

	🥁 10:35pm WLSClark: Detroit's Shy Guys did a Burger Song for Scott Regan's WKNR show that was a re-write of their local hit "We Gotta Go" which is epicly good.

	🥁 10:36pm Discotech Underground: String OFperils-My CCR Cosmo's LP pressed on Dynaflex you could hold out in front of you by one edge and it would actually droop!

	10:39pm doctorjazz: I believe I was confusing "Dynaflex" with "Dynagroove", another RCA process, despised by Classical LP Audiophiles. CCR Every night!!!!!
	10:39pm Jay S.: Kip - exactly. One of my favorites as a kid (and it still is).
	🥁 10:40pm Discotech Underground: doctorjazz-Yes, you might be...Dynagroove classical LP's are shunned by the classical community. Only the "Living Stereo" shaded dog LP's suffice.

	10:41pm doctorjazz: White Dogs in a pinch, Shaded Dog if possible (they sell for a pretty penny), NO Dynagroove.
	10:41pm bigplanetnoise: Not all Dynaflex LPs were noisy. But the noisy ones got the attention. Ive been told that the compound they were made of was more prone to getting “burned” in the presses, thus the noise. The ones that were made correctly sound just fine.
	🥁 10:42pm WLSClark: One of the LPs Chili was looking for, I think? Did you find one?
	🥁 10:43pm Discotech Underground: BPN-I have never really had a noise issue with Dynaflex, it was more that the recording level was considerably lower than a non-Dynaflex LP. My Indian Summer LP is Dynaflex sounds great but the music is at a pretty low level so I have to tweeze it in order for it to sound it's best.
	10:44pm Chili MacPagoda: Clark, we started out our convo about CCR with their version of Good Golly Miss Molly and it kinda took off from there.
	10:45pm doctorjazz: The Wiki above says they went to the Dynaflex to save money while still using Fresh vinyl, but a more flexible (and less expensive) formulation. Other companies at the time were reusing vinyl from returned records, these were said to be noisier than virgin vinyl records, the RCA process was supposed to save shekels while still using virgin vinyl.
	10:47pm Chili MacPagoda: Oh yes now I remember what you’re talking about Clark!!! I’ve been looking around for the Lemon Pipers lp still, along with Thee Remains. Haven’t given up yet!
	10:48pm StringOFperils: Interesting that in the age of double gate-fold die-cut special press-run LP jackets with lots of inserts, that they'd opt for saving money on the music-delivery system, the vinyl.
	10:48pm bigplanetnoise: doctorjazz- exactly. Which is why when they WERE pressed correctly, they sounded great. It was virgin vinyl, when most others were using regrind.

	10:54pm bigplanetnoise: Not really, Kip. Thickness doesn’t have anything to do with level. That’s all an artifact of either program length or a decision made by the cutting engineer. The more dynamic the program, the lower the overall level. More compressed equals more level. Thus, all the silly “in your face” comments made by 45 collectors. All they’re hearing is a louder, more compressed/limited master.

	10:56pm Chili MacPagoda: Were S&G into psych garage rock for a minute or was that as much the influence of Tom Wilson? And why hasn’t there been a documentary/music retrospective of his influence/talent as a producer? Asking as I sincerely don’t know and have wondered about it.

	11:52pm prguitar: That would be the place Chili! The building is still there, but Erasmus Hall High School was closed in 1994.. It had a long run..was opened in the early 1900's. It was a venerable place when my Dad was growing up in the 1930's, and stayed that way for a long time..

Discotech Underground is actually two...two...two shows in one!

The first half is a "Happy Hour" of sorts (because it's five o'clock somewhere, right?), spinning the kinds of sounds you might have heard at a real, authentic 1960's DISCOTECH as cool cats and swingin' chicks danced the night away in their mod threads and mini skirts to hard-driving sounds under the flashing lights! The only thing missing are the cage dancers...but we're working on it!

The second half is for when you head home after a wild night, and ease in with the heady, trippy, mind-expanding sounds of a groovy free-form UNDERGROUND rock radio station that digs deep into their library and blows your mind all over again!

	10:18pm doctorjazz: Been lucky, no rain/storms the whole time I was in the Berkshires. Tonight, as I'm about 1 block from my house, it starts pouring, lightning, etc, but overall I lucked out!

	🥁 10:35pm Discotech Underground: doctorjazz-RCA did contract pressings for other labels all the time. Classical collectors avoid Dynaflex and Dynagroove pressings because they are too noisy for their discriminating ears.
	10:35pm StringOFperils: My copy of BB KIng's Indianola Mississippi Seeds, on ABC, I think, is on Dynaflex...and it is disturbingly flexible....not even sure why

	10:41pm doctorjazz: White Dogs in a pinch, Shaded Dog if possible (they sell for a pretty penny), NO Dynagroove.
	10:41pm bigplanetnoise: Not all Dynaflex LPs were noisy. But the noisy ones got the attention. Ive been told that the compound they were made of was more prone to getting “burned” in the presses, thus the noise. The ones that were made correctly sound just fine.

	🥁 10:43pm Discotech Underground: BPN-I have never really had a noise issue with Dynaflex, it was more that the recording level was considerably lower than a non-Dynaflex LP. My Indian Summer LP is Dynaflex sounds great but the music is at a pretty low level so I have to tweeze it in order for it to sound it's best.
	10:44pm Chili MacPagoda: Clark, we started out our convo about CCR with their version of Good Golly Miss Molly and it kinda took off from there.
	10:45pm doctorjazz: The Wiki above says they went to the Dynaflex to save money while still using Fresh vinyl, but a more flexible (and less expensive) formulation. Other companies at the time were reusing vinyl from returned records, these were said to be noisier than virgin vinyl records, the RCA process was supposed to save shekels while still using virgin vinyl.

	10:48pm StringOFperils: Interesting that in the age of double gate-fold die-cut special press-run LP jackets with lots of inserts, that they'd opt for saving money on the music-delivery system, the vinyl.
	10:48pm bigplanetnoise: doctorjazz- exactly. Which is why when they WERE pressed correctly, they sounded great. It was virgin vinyl, when most others were using regrind.

	10:54pm bigplanetnoise: Not really, Kip. Thickness doesn’t have anything to do with level. That’s all an artifact of either program length or a decision made by the cutting engineer. The more dynamic the program, the lower the overall level. More compressed equals more level. Thus, all the silly “in your face” comments made by 45 collectors. All they’re hearing is a louder, more compressed/limited master.
