Yes - ♓︎Pisces & ♍︎Virgo are ☍Opposite signs on the wheel of the zodiac - as that album cover seems to show. It is always very illuminating to consider a Polarity of ☍Opposite Signs. ☍Opposite Signs balance each other by contrast - which requires Awareness. ♓︎Pisces is Belief - & ♍︎Virgo is Analysis. ♓︎Pisces is Sacrifice - & ♍︎Virgo is Service...

Avatar 4:11pm
Dayffid:

djsheilab - Thanks for the info. I was just talking to a friend the other day about how different my listening experience is today from what it was like when I was younger, when I would have to save up money and buy and album and listen to it over and over again. My musical knowledge of different artist and bands has expanded vastly but I rarely become as intimate with a single or an album as in the days when I would physically buy it. Even when I do it still doesn't have the same amount of time given as the albums of the past. so yeah things change, somethings are better some as worse but in the end I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too. OR can you?? maybe you can?

I agree with you entirely, Shelia. First, use the right tool for the job. If you have a policy you think will further social justice then work on bringing the policy into action, don't write a song about it. Conversely, if you are an artist of any kind don't expect to be praised just because your heart is in the right place - make your art as beautiful, powerful and self-sufficient as possible.

The question with any message an artist or Citizen on this land has (or does not know they have) is what is actionable?
This is a simplification -but- A conservative like Nixon would be content to narrate the past. Whereas liberal like RFK would looks to the past to draw lessons and inform upon the present!
But I digress… i try to steer clear of the politics game, but as a Citizen am born political. No choice in that.

tim from washington:

Based on the mini rant I totally agree with you, Sheila! Dictating what art should be about is bad news. Social issues and politics in art that is explicit sometimes hits the mark but most of the time it fails. Art can be political and successful when there's nuance, grey area and it's well thought out; not just a reaction. Successful political art: David Wojnarowicz, Nan Goldin. Unsuccessful political art : the dearth of books dictating uniformity in thought about gender, race and political views.
