What I mean is - they've always been around - & I appreciate them - but I've never taken them into the center of my heart like I did say TheWho or JulianCope... In a way, that's a compliment. They're part of the landscape...

@fred this is a few weeks too late, but I was sorry to hear about some of the encounters you had with the artists there. Some people needlessly act so shitty sometime. (Although I was fascinated to discover the place where you work ...)

(now switched to the live main stream to check which show is in 40 minutes (?) or is it Tuesday in 40' :D)
on a musical note: this tune that just played on Suzy H.'s show is my jam "many memories tied to that" indeed on this one

Recently*, I started listening to my music like I eat my food: according to seasons ! Bon Iver is a Fall-Winter listen for me. maybe that's why you had to pause it? :D
Is it a youtube playlist ?

Pat Benatar's season is #LetMeLookThisOneUpTooForASeeeec season :D
Avrilinmay:
This reminds me, a similar thing just happened last week: when Revolution Rabbit Nov63 (if I'm remembering well) said Macca and I thought he was talking about something else completely..until I found out that was simply Paul McCartney :D :D
Pablexa™:
Avrilinmay:
so if you were listening to Pat Benatar, do you have a favourite? or a recommend track/album to start from? I can confirm after searching for her name that I have not had the chance to listen to her music before
Pablexa™:
Le Bel Age is a great track - Seven the hard way is a great album, as is Wide Awake in Dreamland & Tropico and and......

Avrilinmay:
If we are trading covers we like, last one I really enjoyed* (a friend also made me discover this), and since we're still (?) in that weekend wfmu mood (if you happened to listen to Jeffrey's show on saturday mornings. I did quite a lot the last few months) is Ben Howard's live rendition during his set in Glastonbury (2015) of Sharon Van Etten's Every time the Sun Comes Up
Pablexa™:
Pablexa™:
Avrilinmay:
back to thanking you for the Pat Ben titles, adding those to my listening queue
can't say I did *looking them up now*
Avrilinmay:
(Cool that I did not have to worry about yt or sptfy on this one to hear what they sounded like : )) )
*need I say it again? thank yoouu..

@JB listen to the entire Seeker Album in order by Cloud Cult - Tis great
Avrilinmay:
Coincidentally, I run into that friend who recommended Ben Howard, again today. I passed on to them the cover by Peter Gabriel (hope that's alright with you), which started talk about a whole bunch of other things they have been listening to.
(so if you would be interested to know, here they are)
Alex Turner and Miles Kane covering Jacques Dutronc (les Cactus) . That's a new one (even for me)
Tom Misch (I think ? not sure about this one. They just kept talking about Glastonbury and I kinda remembered the name "Tom", and looked it up from there)
A weird -their own words- version of Yellow Submarine (sounded "weird" to them, but I'm pretty sure they were just discovering some Yoko Ono-influenced period, but they're not really a fan so, not surprising). which I bet is probably around here in the archives
And censoring the last one because it really got hilariously mainstream from there and my fingers are refusing to type some names here on a wfmu chat board *cough*ex LA -star-guitar player-with-dreamy boyfriend persona-and-wavy dark hair's name*cough* :D
Avrilinmay:
(hope JB from NP does not have any of these on his no-no list already :D )
