I probably missed most of this stuff, but then again I was a kid (from 4 to 13) with a couple of records and a mono boombox. Even if it was for a few hours per week, the rock show on the Finnish Radio did play good stuff. A pity I was too young to stay up til midnight when you heard the best stuff

...my 80s now is very different from my 80s in the 80s :). ...
Have noted that - while my head is entrenched deeply in the 1960s - & 70s Punk was so relevant
...I went thru giant changes in the 80s - like Leaving Home for starters... & the Music was indispensable & significant to me. College Rawk emerging into Alternative & troubling the Charts was parallel to all my tectonic life shifts...

I never saw any MTV (Europe) during 80s, but Music Box was awesome. A UK channel, you could watch it (via satellite/cable?) in Finland as well, my granny's apartment block had it & that's where I heard Kraftwerk, The Jesus And Mary Chain, New Model Army, Killing Joke, Bowie etc. from, many of them for the first time. There was classy stuff like that during early morning filler hours. Mindblowing stuff for a 9-year old.
  7:44pm
Nick:

Julie that's good. My neighbors are still karening at one another over parking... They each own 4 cars. I sort of own between 2 and 8. So If I ever get them all back from repair shops. I will get a pincer-attack of karen-ing from both i think. very darryning concept.

@7:38 Revolution Rabbit Nov63: the funny thing is the guy working for RCA in Manchester who got Joy Division there was mostly into Northern Soul and tried to get Joy Division to cover "Keep On Keepin' On" which became "Interzone". I think they disliked the recordings already at the time.

I did get some Prussians in the 1700s that got absorbed to germany in the fall of prussia, and their kids moved to usa in the 1800s. But they seem to be related to some czechs from a place called petrokoviwcz . it's kinda puzzling. i can't figure out where the finns fit.

Julie, this would be a great time slot for this show. It's making me want to go out tonight!!!! Great show!

Musta Paraati was never the same after vocalist/occasional guitarist/songwriter Jore Vastelin left the band ( a bit after Peilitalossa had been released), he died in september 1993

I forgot how exhausting clicking no on all the ugly dating app matches was. And it leaves me feel a bit judgemental and shallow too x.x
  9:21pm
Nick:

Not sure either.. Uma Thurman was married to Ethan Hawke in real life. So I won't find her on a Gattaca-like dating app =(

Oooo the app just showed me a 93% match who is absolutely stunning, and she's only 39 hours of airline rides distance away. And shares 5 of the interest boxes I ticked. I am gonna use up my first "like" and see if it asks me to add a credit card.
Avatar 🦇 9:37pm
Julie:

39 hours BY PLANE??? that sounds very far
Avatar 🦇 9:37pm
Julie:

I could get to Scott faster than that
Avatar 🦇 9:38pm
Julie:

perhaps they take your DNA and her DNA and clone both of you and have the identical couple at hand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
Scott67:

Sure could wipe a few hours off that time. Where the hell is this "match"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm

Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I wouldn't mind some 70 hour train ride, but a plane... the longest I've flown is three hours and I want to keep it that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm
diciassette:

39 hours by plane sounds fishy. If you can stay above the rotating earth for 24 hours you ought to be able to come down just about anywhere you want?
  9:47pm
Nick:

Sigh, another match in Uusima.
  9:49pm

Diciasette it's not a direct flight. I have to change planes 4 times..

Avatar 🦇 9:55pm

glad you enjoyed, Miles!
  9:55pm
Nick:

It's way too big to fit through my drain x.x unless it climbed out as a baby and got big.
  9:56pm
Nick:

But cockroaches flee from light, not run towards it. i wonder if it's something else like those beetles that lay larvae in ponds and aquariums and then feed on flies
Avatar 9:56pm
Miles of Middle Texas:

:)
  9:57pm
Nick:

Julie, at least we know my dna is not cockroach dna. One of my ancestors claimed to be descended from some sort of snake fish girl. Same one from the starbucks logo.
