With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

June 27, 2021: The Dolphy Double Deluge, Part 2
The Dolphy Deep Dive goes Deeper! A proper tribute to the great multi-instrumentalist Eric Dolphy would never be confined to a mere four hours, so we celebrate his 93rd birthday, HOLDING HIM OVER FOR A SECOND WEEK at The Stork Club. On the program: more of his greatest recordings as a leader, his first sessions with Roy Porter and his 17 Boppers, and from sideman dates such as Charles Mingus, John Coltrane, Pony Poindexter(?!) and Abbey Lincoln. Dolphy’s mind-blowing virtuosity was equally astonishing on bass clarinet, flute and alto saxophone. His distinctive tone and his singular harmonic concept encompassed all of the known human musical realm, as well as all the sounds of the natural world. Don’t miss this second half of the Dolphy Double-Drench!!
