I lost real interest in Star Wars by 1977 - but their intent to make it a 'lived-in' Futurism was an interesting point - & remember hearing much about their organic approach to Sound FX. Thwacking telephone pole restraint cables for pew-pew lasers for example...

Carmichael: That's David Patrick Kelly, great actor. He's had a bit part or two in other David Lynch stuff too. He was one of Juana's gang in Wild at Heart.
The Long Good Friday! I need to watch that again. What a combo, Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren.

Mariano, there’s a crazy film called Duffer, which is kind of the proto-Eraserhead, and which captures 70s London decay really well, also. Might have to send that your way at some stage.

Just putting my 2 cents in about "The Warriors":
Most memorable thing about the movie is that it stars Michael Beck, who would be seen on the big screen no less than a year later in "Xanadu". So obviously, Hollywood was working hard to sell his name to the moviegoing masses as the new, hot up-and-comer with promising star potential. But since "Xanadu" bombed big at the box office, he's barely been seen anywhere since, if at all.
βrian:
Coolest sounding holiday ever, in any case.

@4:12 RRN63 the film you are mentioning is "The Wanderers." I tracked it down as a special film for a special friend (reminded him of his neighborhood.) Linda Manz: "Terrah! Ya joined tha AHHHMY!"

David: I'm a sucker for Lumet. There's a good one from around 1990 called Q&A with Nick Nolte as arguably the most evil corrupt cop in moviedom. Only complaint is that it has this horrible opening track. Didn't know about The Offence though, you're full of good recommendations today.

I just read a Cuban SF book about a sentient robot obsessed with Raymond Chandler trying to use 48 Hours to catch a space criminal to prevent the aliens from abandoning Earth and mankind forever. So that movie has legs!
We have definitely had to use our hands on hikes around there, ChukAmok. The dog loves it for some reason!
