TDK I lived in SantaBarbara 16 years - & 'Quratz' rawked my head ! The relation of L.A. & Noir - that's ne thing. & putting the System above Humans & Habitation is another ! Relates to things both MarkHurst has touched on (what are Humans *for* ??) - & SheilaB, if she more in reference to NYC. But Gentriication & Corporatization ...as happened to FM radio. Yeah.

+1 for City of Quartz! Great book. Before I ever visited LA it helped give a story and a sense of place to what was allegedly a placeless city, a place beyond what is depicted in television and movies.
