I've visited Japan a few times and am always feeling destroyed when arriving in Japan but not so much when coming back via direct flight since usually arrive an hour before I departed.
The fact that coming back I am usually tired and sleep more on the flight and when going am keyed up looking forward to being there and sleep very little may have more to do with it, but still like the idea of arriving before you left.

I've not had good deli food (BLT on everything bagel was my usual order) in over a year.
Did have good knish and chicken matzo soup a couple weeks ago when I had to venture out to get finger printed for getting credentials renewed to customer customer site again.

I've never been to Japan, & for many years had ZERO desire to ever visit (well, up until...the early 2000s, when I started to get into manga & anime, prompted by the EPIC 'Akira' movie & comicbooks, that is...I'm a MASSIVE comics fan (a tad too literally than figuratively these daze for my weight scale's liking, but!).
Never been to the States, either, but Queens, NYC has ALL kinds a MAGICAL connotations for me.
(Oh, & I HAVE travelled - to Sydney once, & Europe twice. & to my neighbouring towns SEVERAL times - LoL. But I YAM a bit of a hermit these daze, & since I sold my automobile 10 yearzago, even MOA* of a "stay-at-home"...(I live half an hour our of Wellington, in the Nth Island of NZ, fyi)...
