Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am

Yeah, that extra innings rule is terrible. And restricting the shift is just idiotic. Not good to sacrifice strategy for the most marginal possible gains in terms of time. Make games shorter by limiting commercials.
Avatar 11:37am
Joe B:

I love the shift. If hitters are dumb enough/stubborn enough to not adjust, that should be there problem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am

The minor leagues used to have 7 inning double headers a long time ago. The MLB changes are purely for COVID and will go back after COVID has passed.

  11:41am
TimG:

WELL, Michael....while I agree some of the new rules are bunk (Senior Softball Rules...7 innings/runner at second). Baseball has become a home run or strike out affair. I love baseball as much as music but when the ball is not hit in play...the game becomes tedious. The shift has killed the idea of single, sacrifice, bunt, hit and run et al. I rest my case, your honor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am
Handy Haversack:

Greg, MLB just needs some fresh characters with an edgy, in-your-face attitude. Maybe ... a dog ... with a surf board? That feels right!

@Handy: Can we rasta-fy MLB by 10%?

In movie news, I watched Mank and then the next day I watched Mank again, because this is America and I can watch Mank as many times as I want.
Also Judas & The Black Messiah deserves a dumptruck full of Academy Awards. Lakeith is so good that I actually worry about him. His level of vulnerability is in the Heath Ledger/Philip Seymour Hoffman zone.

Wonder if Jackie & the Giants was timed with the Jack the Giant Killer film - a great sub-Harryhausen stop motion animation flick.

Good morning, Michael and #1’s! Locally the Blue Jays are having trouble drumming up interest, even amongst loyalists, as they are playing in up to three different stadiums this season, none of them in Canada. Hopefully radio coverage will return in the future.

@clarke, it's loosely based on Rebecca, or at least was until they decided to turn it into a horror film at the last minute.

I wish I new what to call that kind of beat on that Willie Nelson. It's "funky" but really it's not all that funky. It was everywhere. From stuff like that to 70s Broadway.

Joe, that brewery across the street from Rutt's had opened, so we stopped in there to use the bathroom and grab some cans to go before heading home yesterday. Took as long to find a parking spot in Greenpoint as it did to drive here from Clifton!

@John EB Good & @Andres - first Ive heard here of the cancellation of Blue Jay radio broadcasts - I'm of 2 minds on this: 1. glad to never have to listen to Whiny Mike Wilner (hopefully ever) again; 2. bummed as that is my most enduring connection to ball - listening on the transistor radio, usually while outside working in the yard or whatever, or on a roadtrip somewhere -

it seems like alienating traditional enthusiasts a la Metallica is indeed the order of the day ...

failing to grasp how that makes sense financially (ostensibly the motivation), but hey, what do I know...?
