Live performance by Julia Vorontsova |
Beautiful and melancholic songs came our way from this Russian-born folkie, now based in Jersey City. Julia Vorontsova grew up listening to underground "Bard" folk singers such as Boulat Okudzhava, Veronika Dolina, Vladimir Semeonovich Visotskiy & Yuriy Vizbor. After studying violin and piano for three years at St. Petersburg State Music School Julia started composing her own poetry and songs while teaching herself guitar. |

Live performance by Tir Na Moe Alberto Monti (electric & acoustic bass, percussion), Stefania Bongioanni (voice, digital piano, tin whistle, dulcimer, harmonium) and Pier Franco Zerbini (diatonic accordion, hurdy-gurdy, Italian & Scottish bagpipe, winds, percussion and voice). |
This Italian ensemble was started in early 2000 by musicians fascinated by sounds and atmospheres of popular, medieval and Celtic music. Born from a passion for ancient music, Tir Na Moe incorporates keyboards, voices and bass, enriched by strictly acoustic instruments such as diatonic accordion, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, in particular the Scottish, harmonium and a lot of wind instruments of the European popular tradition. The members of Tir Na Moe say "The group has three souls: one nearer to rock, another more close to the Celtic-melodic repertory, the last one more ethnic and popular."http://www.tirnamoe.it/ |
