I spent a lot of money on Letraset during the dumpster years when I should have spent it on food and accepted the fact that my interest in being a graphic designer was circling the toilet bowl....guess that was after I hacked the plumbing system in the bsmt. and put in that toilet.

It's the one that has what looks like an electro magnetic lawn sprinkler on the cover. If ever there was a record who's cover accurately hinted at what was inside, this is it.
	🎸 ♥ 12:15pm Rich in Washington: Music Millennium in Portland has been open for some time, with a strict limit on how many people can browse the (large) store and how long they can be there (I think). I think many Portland record stores are open but are also encouraging online purchasing and curbside pickup.
	♥ 12:18pm Krys O.: I live in a suburban New Jersey town that has seen an influx of people who moved from NYC. Landlords are jacking up the rent because of market rates. NYC emigres are finding rent cheaper in my town, but everyone who has lived here for at least the past 10-12 years is having trouble finding affordable apartments. Back in the early Twenty-Teens, places like Hudson, NY and environs were having that happen. Never would have expected it to happen to sleepy Bloomfield.

There was a book store in Montclair that had used LPs, but I didn't see it last time I walked by there a month or so ago.

	♥ 12:36pm Krys O.: I worked at Crazy Eddie's Records & Tapes in the mid-80s. We had video rental too. In the 90s I worked at a laser disc distributor. I know from archaic media. BTW-I just upgraded my amp at home so I can set up my Pyle double-cassette deck and listen to tapes in a addition to my vinyl. The cassette deck and my turntable both have USB outputs. My 'system' is on the cheap and would make audiophiles blanch.

	♥ 12:43pm Franco Twinkie: One of my rituals at SF Amoeba is get a bag of stuff and take over to Escape From New York, get I slice of pesto/potato pizza and admire my loot. One night Chresti, our friend Jackson and myself were doing exactly that when Jackson, who was facing the widow got this look on this face and exclaimed "There's a woman peeing in the street!" I turned around and sure enough this woman had her pants down in between two parked cars across the street. She waved at me with a big smile on her face.

I included even ones whose names I couldn't remember - I'd just say "think it was on Glendale Blvd & Broadway" stuff like that. It is a long list.

I only met him once. I was at checkout and he said 'Oh. You don't want this record! Go back and get "___" instead!'. Decades later, I learned he was fellow KBOO DJ Brandon of the long running show Drinking From Puddles.

BTW-I recently watched two films that had fabulous exterior scenes shot in Manhattan, in particular the Times Square area: Fleshpot on 42nd Street and Something Wild (1961) both were shown on TCM. I was drooling at the long gone storefronts and sleaze that I miss. I loathe the Disneyfication of Manhattan.

	♥ 1:46pm Franco Twinkie: Otis, in 1985 I worked on a friends studio on 10th Street, and trying to be a carpenter without a truck in NYC was such a revolting experience that it got the grunge/glamor crap out of my eyes fast. Right after that, I got on the Hollywood gravy train and rode it for 30 years. That would NEVER have happened in New York.

	♥ 2:08pm Franco Twinkie: Another friend lived on 49th and 9th. Going to his place was like walking through the 7th circle of drug hell. 'Smoke and Coke, smoke and coke, I got co-caaaain!' Very musical, kind of like a demented ice cream truck.

Fantastic old kosher delis and cafeterias, the three card monte hustlers and the pickpockets and the shills, the taste of air pollution, the smell of bagels and pretzels with mustard. One time at Broadway and 34th I think, there was a beat up squad car waiting at the lights to go eastbound, and this totally wrecked old drunk staggered out into traffic and just folded at the waist over the back fender of the cop car, and then crab-like groped his way along the side of it, past the obese corrupt looking NYPD officer on the passenger side, and onward until he reached the front wheel-well where he finally succumbed and slowly slid like a slimy rag down the side of the car into a pile at the side of the tire. The greasy long black hair hanging limply out of the officers police hat impressed me greatly, but not as much as the complete 'who fucking cares' nonchalance of both officers as they barely registered the sad case and ignored his sorry ass completely as the light changed and NYPD's finest peeled off the their destiny, leaving the citizen in the piss-soaked gutter. Wow.

Once when i noticed i was at the intersection of 53rd and 3rd, Ramones fan that I am, I took out my instamatic to snap a pic of the street signs. Years later, i worked for a LA law firm whose NY satellite office address said "53rd & Third." Wonder if anyone working there knew that area's storied past?

One of the last times I was in that old neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park was filled with mothers pushing baby carriages and that was 20 years ago or so. One of my sisters lived in Park Slope back in the early 80s and I would go visit her while I was going to college in NJ. Walking to her place from the subway felt sketchy even during daylight, in fact, she was mugged when I was with her on a bright Saturday afternoon. I had to go with her to look at mugshots.
	2:44pm Mr Fab: So...Sugar Hill credited the Tom Tom Club, but refused to credit Liquid Liquid for "White Lines," forcing 99 Records into a 5-year legal battle that ended with 99 closing shop and Sugar Hill declaring bankruptcy. Huh. Sugar Hills' Robinsons were both visionaries and inept crooks.

The dad, would make that kid get down in the bottom, he'd have on a hazmat zuit suit of course and be tripping balls inside his mask from lack of oxygen. It was a small price to pay for $1.50 an hour in those days.

I spent a lot of money on Letraset during the dumpster years when I should have spent it on food and accepted the fact that my interest in being a graphic designer was circling the toilet bowl....guess that was after I hacked the plumbing system in the bsmt. and put in that toilet.

I still feel somewhat motivated to use it again, to turn it back on itself and its predatory masters. There is so much out there now that really needs to be completely undermined. It's the one that has what looks like an electro magnetic lawn sprinkler on the cover. If ever there was a record who's cover accurately hinted at what was inside, this is it.
	🎸 ♥ 12:15pm Rich in Washington: Music Millennium in Portland has been open for some time, with a strict limit on how many people can browse the (large) store and how long they can be there (I think). I think many Portland record stores are open but are also encouraging online purchasing and curbside pickup.
	♥ 12:18pm Krys O.: I live in a suburban New Jersey town that has seen an influx of people who moved from NYC. Landlords are jacking up the rent because of market rates. NYC emigres are finding rent cheaper in my town, but everyone who has lived here for at least the past 10-12 years is having trouble finding affordable apartments. Back in the early Twenty-Teens, places like Hudson, NY and environs were having that happen. Never would have expected it to happen to sleepy Bloomfield.

There was a book store in Montclair that had used LPs, but I didn't see it last time I walked by there a month or so ago.

	♥ 12:36pm Krys O.: I worked at Crazy Eddie's Records & Tapes in the mid-80s. We had video rental too. In the 90s I worked at a laser disc distributor. I know from archaic media. BTW-I just upgraded my amp at home so I can set up my Pyle double-cassette deck and listen to tapes in a addition to my vinyl. The cassette deck and my turntable both have USB outputs. My 'system' is on the cheap and would make audiophiles blanch.

	♥ 12:43pm Franco Twinkie: One of my rituals at SF Amoeba is get a bag of stuff and take over to Escape From New York, get I slice of pesto/potato pizza and admire my loot. One night Chresti, our friend Jackson and myself were doing exactly that when Jackson, who was facing the widow got this look on this face and exclaimed "There's a woman peeing in the street!" I turned around and sure enough this woman had her pants down in between two parked cars across the street. She waved at me with a big smile on her face.

	12:50pm Mr Fab: Record store heaven, ha! I actually made a list of every record store in LA I'd been to in in life, most of which are now gone, of course. I included even ones whose names I couldn't remember - I'd just say "think it was on Glendale Blvd & Broadway" stuff like that. It is a long list.

I only met him once. I was at checkout and he said 'Oh. You don't want this record! Go back and get "___" instead!'. Decades later, I learned he was fellow KBOO DJ Brandon of the long running show Drinking From Puddles.

BTW-I recently watched two films that had fabulous exterior scenes shot in Manhattan, in particular the Times Square area: Fleshpot on 42nd Street and Something Wild (1961) both were shown on TCM. I was drooling at the long gone storefronts and sleaze that I miss. I loathe the Disneyfication of Manhattan.

	♥ 1:46pm Franco Twinkie: Otis, in 1985 I worked on a friends studio on 10th Street, and trying to be a carpenter without a truck in NYC was such a revolting experience that it got the grunge/glamor crap out of my eyes fast. Right after that, I got on the Hollywood gravy train and rode it for 30 years. That would NEVER have happened in New York.

Fantastic old kosher delis and cafeterias, the three card monte hustlers and the pickpockets and the shills, the taste of air pollution, the smell of bagels and pretzels with mustard. One time at Broadway and 34th I think, there was a beat up squad car waiting at the lights to go eastbound, and this totally wrecked old drunk staggered out into traffic and just folded at the waist over the back fender of the cop car, and then crab-like groped his way along the side of it, past the obese corrupt looking NYPD officer on the passenger side, and onward until he reached the front wheel-well where he finally succumbed and slowly slid like a slimy rag down the side of the car into a pile at the side of the tire. The greasy long black hair hanging limply out of the officers police hat impressed me greatly, but not as much as the complete 'who fucking cares' nonchalance of both officers as they barely registered the sad case and ignored his sorry ass completely as the light changed and NYPD's finest peeled off the their destiny, leaving the citizen in the piss-soaked gutter. Wow.

Once when i noticed i was at the intersection of 53rd and 3rd, Ramones fan that I am, I took out my instamatic to snap a pic of the street signs. Years later, i worked for a LA law firm whose NY satellite office address said "53rd & Third." Wonder if anyone working there knew that area's storied past?

One of the last times I was in that old neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park was filled with mothers pushing baby carriages and that was 20 years ago or so. One of my sisters lived in Park Slope back in the early 80s and I would go visit her while I was going to college in NJ. Walking to her place from the subway felt sketchy even during daylight, in fact, she was mugged when I was with her on a bright Saturday afternoon. I had to go with her to look at mugshots.
	2:44pm Mr Fab: So...Sugar Hill credited the Tom Tom Club, but refused to credit Liquid Liquid for "White Lines," forcing 99 Records into a 5-year legal battle that ended with 99 closing shop and Sugar Hill declaring bankruptcy. Huh. Sugar Hills' Robinsons were both visionaries and inept crooks.
