	🦇 3:58pm chris in the redwoods: my dad once found two baby owls (i forget the species, but this was in the Sierra Nevada Mountains). we hunted for and fed them grubs and the like until the were old enough to be released. fascinating birds.
	3:59pm coelacanth∅: chris it involved a highly agitated rattle snake within striking distance, and me being oblivious. (and being ~ 6 miles from other humans) i'm very lucky

	🦇 4:22pm Ken From Hyde Park: I made sure to give those reptiles a wide berth and watched my step carefully when I was off the trail. Didn't want to tread on any other critters. They were on the trail so I had to step off it to pass them.
	🦇 4:22pm Phillippe Bastille: @coel our house was a ramshackle mess when we bought it. The owner was in her 90s and hadn't put any effort into it for years. She had let English ivy grow wild for a couple decades and there was all sorts of cover for many different types of critters. The basement doors had rotted away at the bottom so they had access to the interior of the house as well. we cleared out all of the ivy (about a quarter of an acre of it) and replaced the doors, so there are a lot of critters that keep thinking of this place as home.

	🦇 4:22pm Ken From Hyde Park: I made sure to give those reptiles a wide berth and watched my step carefully when I was off the trail. Didn't want to tread on any other critters. They were on the trail so I had to step off it to pass them.
	🦇 4:22pm Phillippe Bastille: @coel our house was a ramshackle mess when we bought it. The owner was in her 90s and hadn't put any effort into it for years. She had let English ivy grow wild for a couple decades and there was all sorts of cover for many different types of critters. The basement doors had rotted away at the bottom so they had access to the interior of the house as well. we cleared out all of the ivy (about a quarter of an acre of it) and replaced the doors, so there are a lot of critters that keep thinking of this place as home.
