I made enough gumbo to get us all through the hangover.. I'd invite everyone over but we'd have to make room on in the kitchen dance floor for the next hour..
always love these annual Mardi Gras themed shows of yours MFW - hope u are well

Appendages crossed to get MFW back on the boards live and in person soon. Just not Royal Oak. There's a permanent food truck parked on the dance floor...
No, the Royal Oak on Union Avenue, Williamsburg. I have nothing against food trucks but don't get in the way of my dance floor. I got some new moves I'm dying to try out in public...
It’s primarily because “New Or-leens” scans better in lyrics, especially when rhymed with “rice and beans”!

Messy Nessy:
good call Gaylord! I wonder if that's why outsiders even began saying Orleeeens in the first place! Like, how else would we have learned to say it that way??
A New Orleanian who ran a candy shop once praised me profusely for ordering “praw-leens” instead of “pray-leens” even though I was obviously a Yankee, judging from my accent. I explained that I got my pronunciation from my Louisiana native father.

Let’s not skip pronunciation of other French founded city, Detroit.
Gaylord, i think i messed up when i went to san sebastian and i "th-th-th-th" everything....i might have been laughed it multiple times before i realized i was NOT fitting in!
Messy Nessy, I find that if you speak the Spanish you’re most comfortable with, rather than trying to conform to local pronunciations, that is appreciated the most. I wouldn’t start speaking with a Cockney accent or a posh RP dialect if I were visiting London, for example.

Messy Nessy:
thats a good point Gaylord. My issue with all of it is i'm a native french speaker and i can't even bring myself to say "cwaah sant" because i'm deathly afraid of putting on airs
I sense an idea for a song contest. Play a list of "New Orleans" or "Detroit" from songs and then the contestant has to name the songs. Thanks kindly, MFW. Hope you're hangover is diminishing.
