Your hangover party eases my future hangover! Thanks as usual & btw, only getting the left channel on the broadcast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
radioronan:

I made enough gumbo to get us all through the hangover.. I'd invite everyone over but we'd have to make room on in the kitchen dance floor for the next hour..
  8:13pm
Andres:

On the app, both channels good.

Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

Appendages crossed to get MFW back on the boards live and in person soon. Just not Royal Oak. There's a permanent food truck parked on the dance floor...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
Matt from New Orleans:

@Jumpy Royal Palms?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
DjLorraine:

Good evening
  8:20pm
Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

No, the Royal Oak on Union Avenue, Williamsburg. I have nothing against food trucks but don't get in the way of my dance floor. I got some new moves I'm dying to try out in public...

Wanted to see anyone else out there feels weird not pronouncing it "new Orleeeeens"
  8:26pm
johnk77:

nawlins?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Mr. Fine Wine:

NAWlins
  8:28pm
Messy Nessy:

yeah but, it's a shibboleth, right?
  8:29pm
Andres:

La Nouvelle-Orléans. I don’t hear The Big Easy so much these days.
  8:29pm
Messy Nessy:

also, how do we reconcile saying "nawlins" when the majority of the lyrics pronounce it "orleeeeens"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Uncle Michael:

Hello everyone.

91.1 stereo broadcast signal

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm

LOTS of native sat "New Or-lee-uns"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm
Uncle Michael:

*natives say
  8:33pm
Messy Nessy:

aha thank you uncle mike!
Avatar 8:35pm
Mod Mokka Matti:

Greetings, finally made it here for a few minutes at least...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
Gaylord Fields:

It’s primarily because “New Or-leens” scans better in lyrics, especially when rhymed with “rice and beans”!
  8:36pm
Messy Nessy:

good call Gaylord! I wonder if that's why outsiders even began saying Orleeeens in the first place! Like, how else would we have learned to say it that way??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

Messy Nessy, I think you hit the nail on the head with that theory.
  8:39pm
Messy Nessy:

Gaylord, it was all you! This whole topic always has me laughing and thinking of the simpsons send up "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuQjoaYIwQA"

You're making it hard not to head to NOLA as soon as I get my 2nd vax.
  8:42pm
Andres:

Just Like Delilah - Getting the evil eye across the couch from my wife.
  8:42pm
Listener Jumpy in Brooklyn:

Gee, this is kind of a different approach than the Sonics usually took...
  8:43pm
Messy Nessy:

ok, here's the next hard hitting question....are we supposed to pronounce it "bar-the-lona" or is bar se lona ok??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm
Uncle Michael:

Are Castilian?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Gaylord Fields:

A New Orleanian who ran a candy shop once praised me profusely for ordering “praw-leens” instead of “pray-leens” even though I was obviously a Yankee, judging from my accent. I explained that I got my pronunciation from my Louisiana native father.
  8:45pm
Andres:

Let’s not skip pronunciation of other French founded city, Detroit.
  8:45pm
johnk77:

day twa
tha mota city
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
Uncle Michael:

I've been to Deh-twah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
Gaylord Fields:

Messy, I didn’t learn speak Spanish with a Castilian accent, so I don’t lisp. The Catalan seem to appreciate that.
  8:46pm
Messy Nessy:

hahah excellent yessss, lets pass the question to @Mr Fine Wine: should we be pronounce it "de twah"
  8:47pm
Andres:

I like Dee-Troy-It.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
Gaylord Fields:

Andres: I love the Canadian three-syllable pronunciatiom of “Dee-troy-it”!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
Gaylord Fields:

Haha, Andres!
  8:48pm
Messy Nessy:

Gaylord, i think i messed up when i went to san sebastian and i "th-th-th-th" everything....i might have been laughed it multiple times before i realized i was NOT fitting in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Mr. Fine Wine:

That was Coleman Young's pronunciation!
  8:51pm
Andres:

Huge Red Wings fan base in Canada. Blue Jays at Tigers causes a pilgrimage. Pronunciation rests squarely on Canadian sports broadcasters no doubt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm
Gaylord Fields:

Messy Nessy, I find that if you speak the Spanish you’re most comfortable with, rather than trying to conform to local pronunciations, that is appreciated the most. I wouldn’t start speaking with a Cockney accent or a posh RP dialect if I were visiting London, for example.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Really dig that Wardell production
  8:53pm
johnk77:

the music history of ontario
under-reported
cklw, rick danko etc.
also nice work selecter
  8:53pm
Messy Nessy:

thats a good point Gaylord. My issue with all of it is i'm a native french speaker and i can't even bring myself to say "cwaah sant" because i'm deathly afraid of putting on airs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
DjLorraine:

Any leads on a Hell labeled record?
  8:55pm
Sheri:

I can dig it :)
  8:55pm
Messy Nessy:

on the topic of New Orleans, anyone wants "Your Honor" on Showtime (f. Bryan Cranston)??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
Mr. Fine Wine:

Lorraine: Hell's? From last week? From Battle Creek?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
DjLorraine:

Yes. Anymore info about that label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
Matt from New Orleans:

Thanks MFW. Love these shows every year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
Uncle Michael:

Thanks, MFW.
  8:57pm
Andres:

I was wondering the same about the search for Hell :) Thank you, Mr. Fine Wine!
  8:58pm
Sheri:

Thanks for the tunes Mr Fine Wine
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I sense an idea for a song contest. Play a list of "New Orleans" or "Detroit" from songs and then the contestant has to name the songs. Thanks kindly, MFW. Hope you're hangover is diminishing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm
Mr. Fine Wine:

Lorraine! Not really. Check 45cat.com. A couple of them are findable, the other two are impossible.

I watched Your Honor, terrific cast, particularly good turn from Maura Tierney, but pretty dull show overall.
