YES! Moby! used to see him around a lot when i worked in Broadway/Houston Street area (later found out that he lived in the area, a former roommate told me that she rehearsed in the same building where his studio was) -- some years later, i almost literally bumped in to him while walking up the steps exiting his restaurant on Rivington Street -- he was in front of me and when he turned around, i was like (DUH!) "oh, it IS you!" -- he replied "yes, it's me," liked my SHAC t-shirt, i made some goofy "yeah i am one of those 'terrorists'" and he replied, "Oh, but you are GOOD 'terrorists'!" -- very nice guy, so totally NOT a stuck up jerk (as so many *artists* can be)

Yeah, Stanley, been really busy with work lately so mainly in work mode. There's a great album put out by National Geographic in 1974 called "The Music of Scotland," mainly of field recordings, that has things like Hebridean mouth tunes and tweed waulking songs. I know there's probably many more such albums, but that one was my gateway drug. My grandpa made me a mix tape of it along with some other British-Isles folk music because we were both big music nerds.

Cool thing about your grandpa. So happy too, that you like traditional Scottish music. There's a great place in Edinburgh called 'The Hebrides Bar', where the Islanders hang out when visiting the capital. Live music most nights and a terrific atmosphere. In Glasgow there many more places like that and in Ireland (North and South) there's practically music everywhere. I miss the scene *sigh*

Thanks, Bri. The city relies on its festivals, Hogmanay and year round visitors. I really hope people will come back when times are better.

...so that's good, i'll probably get some too. i think i'm within maybe 100 miles of you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Yeah, coel. Seems like the last few years, we'd go for weeks at a time with nothing and then maybe a big dumping, if that. There would be bare ground most of the winter.

Bri The Beatnik:

Aren’t you from New York Coel? Or New Jersey?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51am
coelacanth∅:

last year was scant wasn't it Ken? if i remember correctly
... yeah i don't know how different it is on that side of the river but here it at least stays cold enough that once the snow's on the ground it stays for a few weeks, if not the whole winter

diacasette - Hogmanay. A peculiar obsession with New Year's Eve. We get two public holidays (1st and 2nd of Jan for the country to sober up. There's a massive, 30k people party in Princes Street, bands, bars, vomit etc
