Kate speaks pretty decent Spanish, and I speak French and New York working Spanish. So Catalan wasn't too hard. In theory. First café we walk into, I try to order a glass of wine, and all of it -- Catalan, Spanish, English, the concept of language, the ability to coordinate my mouth -- just completely abandons me. I kind of fish-faced at the poor woman there until Kate stepped in and put me in a glass of wine as fast as she could.

	♥ 1:32pm coelacanth∅: i've got the impression, mostly from many exchange students in this area and restaurant owners, taxi drivers, a member of an excellent band based here except the singer, who comes here from turkey ~once/year - that turkey is beautiful and their civil freedoms are far greater than ours. i only asked one (that i remember) about armenia, and she instantly blew off the subject. the government doesn't acknowledge the genocide and only recognises armenia as a country because of pressure from the united nations. most likely much of the population buy's the government's bullshit, just as people do here.

Kate speaks pretty decent Spanish, and I speak French and New York working Spanish. So Catalan wasn't too hard. In theory. First café we walk into, I try to order a glass of wine, and all of it -- Catalan, Spanish, English, the concept of language, the ability to coordinate my mouth -- just completely abandons me. I kind of fish-faced at the poor woman there until Kate stepped in and put me in a glass of wine as fast as she could.

	♥ 1:32pm coelacanth∅: i've got the impression, mostly from many exchange students in this area and restaurant owners, taxi drivers, a member of an excellent band based here except the singer, who comes here from turkey ~once/year - that turkey is beautiful and their civil freedoms are far greater than ours. i only asked one (that i remember) about armenia, and she instantly blew off the subject. the government doesn't acknowledge the genocide and only recognises armenia as a country because of pressure from the united nations. most likely much of the population buy's the government's bullshit, just as people do here.
