my old 164 had corded tires, not radials. the same 15" tires the original beetles had. i spun out once, blew 2 tires. and another time was waiting for a green light on a hill when the car started sliding backward. there was nothing i could've done about it but fortunately it came to rest against the curb and i managed to get the car pointed back downhill and went.
