Still refreshing my inbox looking for my pardon. Should be coming any time now.

I had shrimp lo mein over rice for dinner tonight, the orange tabby just ran up the steps thinking there'd be food up there, various people might be rich/richer for the moment thanks to Gamestop, and it snowed here this week

I was in for reading too many books. You?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am

Heya $mall ¢hange, Crew, folks! Good to see you, sinner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am

And of course Scott67, P-90, and BH!

P-90:

I bear a long list of low crimes and misdemeanors. I was once admonished by Station Manager Ken for posting too many comments in a discussion about Dee Snider.
  12:25am
BH:

now, I don't know for sure if lo mein is 'supposed' to go over rice.. so it's kinda like when I went to a restaurant and had to improvise about how to handle curtido in regards to a pupusa (I think I just put it on top of the pupusa)
  12:26am
P-90:

I’m not sure but the term “overposting” may have been used.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am

P-90: I got dinged the other day, went waaaay over my limit, lol. Didn't realize, just got kinda caught up in the festive spirit I guess.

Late night. How do, all?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am

Aitch: It's the nickname my Aussie friends bestowed on me years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am
mariano:

Hey there, mb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am
Aitch:

Sounds right, otherwise would have been Mazza
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am
Scott67:

Wondered how long before I created confusion with you nickname mariano. 😎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am
Scott67:

Aitch, I like Mazza better myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am
mariano:

I'm very fond of Madge, I've borne it since '98, and no way in hell my friends are going to budge anyway, lol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am
Aitch:

Not allowed to make up your own nick-name, so Madge it is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am
Scott67:

Madge it is mate!👍😉
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
mariano:

It does violate the Australian rule of every nickname having to have at least one Z, but to hell with rules, I say. Mazza works too though. I've had some interesting nicknames: in Spanish, my last name sounds like both the word for handkerchief as well as for diapers, so that's what I got a lot in school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am
Scott67:

When I was a rock climber I was given the nickname Aitch! There were 2 Scott's, so my surname being Harrison, I became Aitch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am
Scott67:

Madge, they took a leap with your nickname. As I said the other day. My mum is a Marian, and has never been called Madge. Only Mazz or Mannie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am
Aitch:

Similar story, 7 Andrews in my high school roll call class.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am
mariano:

Madge wasn't exactly derived from my name, they just came up with it while they were picking on me. We were walking home late one night in Berlin and they came up with it and started calling me by it and I was rolling around in the street crying "Noooo!" Good times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am
Scott67:

I was just Harrow at school. Rough school.
  1:00am
P-90:

But you can spell it “Madzh” and have the z if it’s really important...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am
Scott67:

Madge, that's how blokes nickname the world over isn't it. It starts as a shit stir that sticks, the organic ways are the best. 😊
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am
Scott67:

Nice night for some Roxy Music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am
mariano:

Thanks, but it's out of my hands, P-90. I've been branded for life. Always been really fond of it. The rolling around in the street was just us playing around, we were all pretty wasted.

well it helps to be surrounded by water etc. but yeah I think they've dealt with it way better then US/UK

I also think of the global east (see Yemen, central Asia, and SE Asia...)

global south to me refers to nations oppressed by the west. so yeah ME is that too ofc

I dated an Israeli gf, and had an Israeli roommate. The were nearly communist. But mention the Palestinians, and the conversation would go off the rails.....
  2:02am
BH:

somehow pretty much every country has been having to deal with the same thing at the same time, and it seems like that has led to less international cooperation.. so...

Also, there's no way to gauge this, but it seems like 2020 had the least foreign policy of any of the Pres elections I've voted in (since 2004). Sorta like not being able to travel to many other countries impacts how much FP is really covered in an election.
Avatar 2:07am
mb:

@BH: Least foreign policy and least foreign intervention on our election. Usually there are some reports of meddling but this year no reports in the media. I guess everyone just wrote there vote down, put it in the box and everything was on the up and up.
  2:07am
$mall ¢hange:

'But mention the Palestinians, and the conversation would go off the rails'

progressive except for Palestine. its a real thing. of course you're not really progressive in the first place if you don't stand with the Palestinians
  2:09am
$mall ¢hange:

or since the Dems won all of a sudden Russia wasn't a problem! since maybe that was never the problem, just an excuse.

I don't think the elections in this country are ever really on the up and up, and not bc of Russia. more like striking ppl off voting rolls, fixing the primaries, etc
Avatar 2:10am
northguineahills:

It's no longer the west, but Russia and China are also exploited lesser developed nations. Thanks Gabriel. OK, now that I hear this, I know who Gabriel is. Didn't he use to dj when in the city? i think I met him in the same circles as your, senor small change.
  2:21am
BH:

I think the 2020 election did make it official that the popularity of electronic voting machine conspiracy theories is mostly from whichever side just lost.

Believe it or not, computers were invented to count things. Before people decided that it'd be fun for them to do other useful things.
  2:24am
$mall ¢hange:

the DNC definitely stole Iowa from Bernie. there was some good articles on that. also Greg Palast has been talking about voter purges for years

Brian in UK:

Good early morning $mall $hange and folks.

Scott if you are still there belated Happy Australia Day.
  2:39am
BH:

2020 was the first time they actually bothered counting a popular vote for the Iowa caucuses (if the entire thing going up in a ball of fire didn't make it obvious that they were doing things they hadn't done before).

Before that the only result was the state convention delegate equivalents or whatever.

Anyways, i'm in a state with open primaries. Which seems like it's worked well for the 110+ years we've been doing it.
  2:44am
$mall ¢hange:

they completely fixed Iowa. Mayo Pete declaring himself victor. really pathetic
  2:59am
BH:

February 2020 probably prepared Pete to catch whatever random online criticism he'll get as the Secretary of Transportation. He's ready to be blamed for the subway being late, even if that's not part of his job.
  2:59am
wtf:

ahh! real contrarians!
  3:03am
$mall ¢hange:

'He's ready to be blamed for the subway being late'

BH you're losing me in a big way. when ppl defend rats that happens. good luck with that. peace yall!
