"Now here's a cult I'd be happy to join" thought I, when hearing this track... but ah, we're in Morricone Island already!

ugh it appears Harold died of covid-19. so frustrating. his compositions are so tranquil, in my ears just as wonderful and unique as brian eno

@joe - yup - eno was great, be he seemed to peak... way back when. budd, however, continually grew in stature until the very end

So angry & disgusted by the toll the incompetence of the outgoing Admin has wrought in the pandemic. Good news is that may change.

Hey, Devon, all.

As has been said, so say I.

@RR - I am to but I prefer to focus on the moment + keeping healthy - budd's music greatly helps with that

By the time the pandemic happened anyone who would have told Trump there was a personal advantage to do it right was gone. He is not about delayed gratification or doing for anyone else, so he didn't have any interest in it aside from hanging the blame wherever else he could

joe mulligan:

@headcleaner I agree completely, and well put!

Dang, I remember reading and liking I Know This Much is True but I forgot the plot, will have to look it up.

Mysterious Skin, with possibly the best performance of Billy Drago, who also died just a few years ago.

this was my most listened artist of 2020 by far and the track that always got me trapped in it was As Long As I Can Hold My Breath (By Night). I got into Budd after listening to Perhaps. rip

greetings, Devon and Skeletons and Castaways!
so beautiful, ethereal on this cold snowy, rainy night . . . i think i first became aware of Harold Budd through Eno? late 1970s?
was not aware of all his soundtrack work though!
and yes, a damn shame that he succumbed to COVID, when it probably could have been prevented (as so many other of the deaths)
THANK YOU, Devon, for this heartfelt (and heartbreaking) tribute to Mr. Harold Budd

slugluv1313:

@melinda -- right? i read "I Know This Much is True" too, quite the complicated-family-history plot! but i had not known about the HBO series until hearing Harold Budd's music here :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
melinda:

@slugluv I think maybe I was confusing it with Wally Lamb 's other novel and that's why I didn't remember it, looked it up and it rang no bells!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm

This is the first Harold Budd tribute I've heard and I've thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm a fan now. Thanks!
