Hi, Andrew! "Do I Love You" is one of my earliest and most cherished musical memories from when I was four years old. A half century later, Ronnie herself sang it live directly to me on my show ("Do I need Gaylord's arms around me?")! I have lived a good life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm
Candy-O'67:

The first time I saw Ronnie, it was New Year's Eve, the first year I was back in TX after living in SoCal for 14 1/2 years. It was 2014. She played outside at a little place called The Spider House. It was 30 degrees outside and my friend and I got there early and were front row standing. It got packed and wasn't as cold with everyone packed in. It was so AMAZING! She was so fantastic and talked in between most songs! She's so tiny, too, and reminding me of Dolly Parton, her figure! I'll never forget that night!

I wanted to share this story from someone on the Real Autograph Collector's Club Facebook page regarding Phil. Sorry for the length but it's a cool story:
"Back in the 90's, pre- murder trial, most people had no idea who Phil Spector was. If he walked by them on the street, people ( including many autograph hounds) would have NO idea who he was. Being a huge Beatle fan, I did and was wildly intrigued by the whole 'recluse producer" thing he had going on. Making it even more intriguing, I would occasionally see him around town. he often drove around in John Lennon's old white Rolls Royce, so he wasn't too hard to spot.
Anyhow I began carrying a stack of records he was involved with ( in the box I carried) for just such an encounter.
My ship finally came in one night at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. I saw Phil go into the venue and after the show I ran to my car to get my items.
I waited at the top of the driveway for him to come out; And waited, and waited some more. A long time after all the cars in the parking lot were gone and seemingly everyone had left for the evening. Very near the time I had given up my resolve, 3am , a lone figure stumbled out the back door. Walking unsteadily, clad in a disheveled black tuxedo ( he was either Dudley Moore's muse for the character Arthur or emulating it) he approached me without looking up.
Stepping in his path I told him 'Excuse me Mr. Spector , I've been waiting here hours for you to come out. Would you mind signing my albums" ? Phil steadied himself, looked up at me ( he was a little man) looked down, patted his jacket and opened it for my examination and slurred "I've got a gun".
Not being the biggest sh*t-eater in the world, I said "Phil" emulating what he had just done, patting my jacket, opening it, 'I have a gun too".
Phil absorbed this for a second, broke into a smile ( we had a moment) and signed all my stuff."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm
Gaylord Fields:

Wow! Who knew there was a Phil Spector gun story with a positive outcome?

Based on what happened between Lennon and Spector during the "Rock and Roll" sessions, for years I've had a running joke with a buddy, where one of us will say to the other, "Pssst! I've got the tapes."

I know that they are issuing a de-Spectorized version of ATMP in 2021 but I can't imagine some of the songs without the reverb--especially this one. It makes the song.

What a beautiful record - the strings and slide guitar.

If you want to take the reverb off "Thanks for the Pepperoni" then fine...but not this one!

I never heard the "Hey Jude" quote in the backing vocals til the Concert For George performance - I was stunned!

The pride of Rhode Island, Vini Poncia and Pete Anders, represented here by a couple of fab tracks, including the sublime, "Do I Love You" with its extended orchestral opening.
