Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from May 1, 2020 Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, Cratedigger's lung is a real affliction. It happened to me digging through lots of crappy, mildewy crates in rainsoaked NW thriftstores.
  7:12pm
CC:

OK...dig!!!... I always thought it might be in Northwestern United States grunge type thing???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm
Rich in Washington:

Also, in my eyes, all those records flipping and kicking mold and dust up into my eyes. But I came up with Cratedigger's Lung and it just stuck and grew on me.

Stopped because of the virus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm

My wife, a book collector, shudders with horror at things with mold on them, but not I. I usually just wash 'em down with a dilute bleach solution. Bob's yer uncle.

Dead Moon is one of those bands i always meant to check out, but never did. Never heard 'em on the radio. The article about 'em in Trouser Press books was my only clue to their existence. It says they never toured the US, so there's that too...

Seems like that Plantation label has lots of really politically problematic releases. There's one I have where they're praising Mai Lai Massacre's Lt. Talley that's pretty awful.

I have a 45 on Plantation called "Routine Patrol", another dramatic spoken-word song, about troops in Vietnam. By describing the hard life of the soldier, it (oops) comes off as anti-war.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:33pm

I think I might have that one. I found a ton of Plantation 7's at some thrift store which a rural country music radio station dumped its records.
