Keilidh, D&D update: They finally stopped messing with the dream moths and actually confronted the spectre the Dream-Bringer. Rather than tussle with her, the traded a unique gem called the Colors of the Storm for the last of the mouth-baby clones, which Shadirigol had turned into an enveloping vampire thing thinking that would make it more valuable. So they finally killed the last of the mouth babies, and then tragically during their drunken debauchery the thief accidentally donated a lot of money to an orphanage and is dealing with the shame! Now they are investigating several cults that formed around a drained and tainted chariot racer.

tl;dr: My, what an ugly baby. Maybe it will grow into those wings.

I think I was to busy taking drugs when Slime was in the toy stores, but the equivalent for my age group was Super Stuff, a bright pink powder you mixed with water that turned into a blob-like mass. One afternoon my mom found it in it's tub, abandoned in the back of the fridge and asked me "Do you want this?" It had turned the color of liver. I said "Give me that" and I took it across the street and smeared it on the side of the neighbors house, which they had just repainted. I threw the tub on their front lawn and went back inside to watch cartoons.

Here's a poem. Kind of well known, and a little old-fashioned, but it still has teeth to it.

Love Song: I and Thou
By Alan Dugan

Nothing is plumb, level, or square:
the studs are bowed, the joists
are shaky by nature, no piece fits
any other piece without a gap
or pinch, and bent nails
dance all over the surfacing
like maggots. By Christ
I am no carpenter. I built
the roof for myself, the walls
for myself, the floors
for myself, and got
hung up in it myself. I
danced with a purple thumb
at this house-warming, drunk
with my prime whiskey: rage.
Oh I spat rage’s nails
into the frame-up of my work:
it held. It settled plumb,
level, solid, square and true
for that great moment. Then
it screamed and went on through,
skewing as wrong the other way.
God damned it. This is hell,
but I planned it. I sawed it,
I nailed it, and I
will live in it until it kills me.
I can nail my left palm
to the left-hand crosspiece but
I can’t do everything myself.
I need a hand to nail the right,
a help, a love, a you, a wife.

One last poem. This is my and Kate's poem the way couples have a song.

Paul Celan, “So Many Constellations”:

So many constellations that
are held out to us. I was,
when I looked at you — when? —
outside by
the other worlds.

O these ways, galactic.
O this hour, that weighed
nights over for us into
the burden of our names. It is,
I know, not true
that we lived, there moved,
blindly, no more than a breath between
There and Not-There, and at times
our eyes whirred comet-like
toward things extinguished, in chasms,
and where they had burnt out,
splendid with teats, stood Time
on which already grew up
and down and away all that
is or was or will be —,

I know.
I know and you know, we knew,
we did not knew, we
were there, after all, and not there
and at times when
only the void stood between us we got
all the way to each other.

Yo yo yo...My childhood buddy Chris Maggio on drums! This kicks so much ass. Chris only threw up a couple SM57s and two condenser mikes in his place to get this drum sound! I'm so proud of this kid!!! Thanks for playing this, Keilidh! Also, WFMUs very own Dave Hill!!! I'm tearing up because my boy on the skins had soem hard times, but made it through and has been kicking ass for the past two decades. I love ya Chris!!!

Here's a poem I rediscovered today. I found a short (~30 min) YT documentary on Silver Apples and I remember learning (then forgetting) where they got the name:

The Song of Wandering Aengus

I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.

When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.

Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

I've never been either. I keep threatening to go see Chris, but his touring schedule is not easy for me to plan around. I've become internet friends with peeps through him though. Cool art/music scene. It's a hub of sorts, for the nation...for those things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am
Mr. Pumpy:

Handy, that's the plan. I have to run a quick errand wherein I'm victim to other's schedules. I may be a hair after noon, 10 mins or so. Is that cool?

@mb - yeah that sounds difficult!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30am
Handy Haversack:

Yes, the Zoom works, Mr. P!

@mb, from what Kate's figuring out, it looks like most of the "concerts" are only the singer live, and otherwise everyone has recorded their individual tracks through Garage Band. She and her band are looking into something called JamKazam (I think) that supposedly lets you play together in real time -- but I can't figure out what the system requirements are, which makes me dubious.
Avatar 2:30am
Keilidh:

@hp - and then they went down to georgia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31am
Mr. Pumpy:

mb...I'll tell you the way the video was made of the Steely Dan song. Nate, Dave Hill, etc...the string section, recorded scratch tracks to a click and they were sent to someone that quickly mixed them. Then the guitars went to Chris and he did the drum tracks along to them. Then the drum tracks were sent back to the guitarists, bass player and vocalists and they all did/re-did their respective parts to the drums and it was mixed/mastered. As far as the video goes, they all performed to the track and recorded themselves after the fact. So...yeah, not all live playing for the video part. Then edited all together, and that's that. The software and all, not sure. I think Chris used something primitive. There are a million free programs out there. www.youtube.com...

Actually, I found the lyrics and they're really interesting, seems the song's about Eleanor of Aquitaine, one of the badassest women of the Middle Ages. Katharine Hepburn really embodied the role in The Lion in Winter. Anyway, in the song she slaughters a pig. I'll work on a translation.
