I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

I see that the traditional fifth platform holds dolls for 泣き上戸, 怒り上戸, and 笑い上戸, which pretty much covers my adventures with alcohol.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am
listener james from westwood:

(I much prefer 笑い上戸!)
Avatar 11:07am
Mayuko:

@james haha! I don't recall hina dolls my family had to be so expressive. They all seemed deadpan. Just like myself when I am drunk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am
listener james from westwood:

On those few occasions when I go past a random beer, I try to be among happy folks, so I can pick up their vibe. But the fact that you have to drive virtually everywhere in Bergen County, NJ, to be with folks means I barely drink to begin with.

Good afternoon Mayuko and gang

Wow, yesterday a friend asked me about Ikema and I had no idea where it was. Asked a Japanese friend about it and she didn't know either
Avatar 12:14pm
Mayuko:

@fred Sounds like you have great people around you. I think it's super rare to have a friend who brings up Ikema in conversation!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm
fred:

He's a Colombian artist who lives in Vienna, and he likes your show. That Japanese friend will be translating at a Ryuichi Sakamoto talk two days from now, so I guess I'm lucky enough to know interesting people

Good afternoon, Mayuko, on Marathon Eve. It was cool to hear one of your premium choices on Sophisticated Boom Boom yesterday. One of many interesting selections on Sheila's program.

Passed through Taroudant years ago, lots of market musicians. Did not note any whirling Sufi's, however. Bustling market town, many touts, but that was Morocco then.

BTW, that Ikema conversation took place at a Sister Iodine show. Great noise band, I think you'd like them. Though I don't know how they sound on record. As with improv, I need to be there for this kind of music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm

hi melinda
-i'm not too wonky! i got a good sleep for once, maybe 6.5 hours. (would've got more if the water dripping from the ceiling didn't splash on my face)

Before I go brew some, thank you Mayuko for another beautiful show! I already sent a couple dollars but will be sure to send a few more during the Marathon. We all appreciate the energy you and everybody else at FMU puts into this vertiginous thing!
  1:39pm
melinda:

@coel water dripping from ceiling sounds bad. I was kept awake at times by wind racket. So hard to do sleep right.
Avatar 1:41pm
Mayuko:

I saw that! Thank you rw, it means a lot to have your support , not just in terms of donation but also to have you here listening. Happy coffees and rest of the weekend!
  1:44pm
melinda:

Today I'm drinking mushroom beverages instead of my usual decaf coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
fred:

I probably won't be pledging live this marathon: the Sonic Protest festival will be on, so I'll be at shows, and I have to switch to fiber connection. I fully expect the latter to go wrong and to be cut off for a while. I'd pledge now, but I'm still hoping I can pledge during Zoe's first marathon show. So don't be surprised if my pledge doesn't show up, it will come eventually
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm

Rickwaukee Right! and then he says something that i always thought was "eldorado" but that's probably not it.

@fred thank you fred! I hope you'll have a great time at the Sonic Protest. and yeah internet stuff goes wrong by default, I'll wait patiently for your return.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm
melinda:

Chaga alone is earthy and bitter, but I make a chai with it so it's tasty. The other one is cordyceps blended with cocoa, also sort of bitter, but chocolatey.
@rbt haha! they're medicinal but non-hallucinogenic.
  1:57pm
rbrt:

haha ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm
fred:

@coel: I've seen him a few times. Not all great, but I like that about him: he takes risks, which may work or not. But when they do, it's a great show
  1:58pm
Ike:

Oh so they're bitter like Chinese medicinal herbal things, then, not consumed for the taste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm
melinda:

@Ike right.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm
coelacanth∅:

i bought some mushroom tea once and didn't like it, so i ended up using it as a soup stock.

I think those herbal things take a little time to get used to, but once you do it becomes not tasting weird at all, I always find that change of my tongue interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm
fred:

Is there such a thing as herbal ice cream?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm

fred i guess i'm not surprised. one thing i thought was kind of noodly and pointless, and an hour long...but the album "hellish miasma" or something like that is Brilliant. (& "cloudy" and some other...
