Spanky was cute at the beginning. When he learned to speak properly they started making him the focus and the episodes grew increasingly stilted, losing the fun and spontaneity of the classics. And Alfalfa by all accounts was hated by all for his nasty pranks and lousy personality.

@Vincent: Robert Blake appeared in the Little Rascals when it was way past it’s peak; the Hal Roach studios episodes are classic. The MGM episodes were very shitty and featured “Froggie” one of the worst of the “Rascals” ever.

Chubby, Dorothy, Stymie, Mary Ann… All excellent. Robert Blake was a turd in the Little Rascals during a turd era.

But he was great on Baretta.

"Lollipop" reminds me of when in the 1980s a friend introduced me to a friend of a friend of his, Beverly Ross. She took me around one day to the things she did, including taking a dance class. (It was like when I went around one day with John Keel.) She was working on show tunes at the time.

Only at the end of the "tour" did she explain that she didn't date, & had a boyfriend. Oh, well.

I once laid in bed, completely immobilized from a hangover-induced migraine, while an early morning country DJ played an entire set - show in fact - of all the songs that either sounded like, were covers of, or response songs to Hotrod Lincoln.
