The funny thing about a bunch of the 60s Doris Day flicks is that, despite their squeaky clean pose and rep, they are overloaded with suggestiveness....about "it," who wants "it," whether she will do "it, " misunderstandings around "it."

	8:05pm still b/p: The whole plot of "That Touch of Mink" turns on whether she'll decide to go with Cary Grant.....and do it! It's all pretty clearly discussed, in terms suitable in its day. We were shown one movie a year in the auditorium at the Catholic school I attended. One year it was The Glass Bottom Boat. It only occurred to me later to wonder what the nuns thought of the semi-farce moments late in the film regarding who's gullibly waiting for Doris in which bedroom...and to wonder how the film passed muster at all.

Since I've been listening to my cds in abc order, I was on Marc Behrens (Raster-Noton Recs), "I told him, I hope you like algorthm derived process electronic rhythmic music". He didn't complain.

Bean assembly facility, and good god it was nothing but indifferent light industrial look & layout...visual busyness of working necessities only. Even Bean's can't do better?

	10:39pm still b/p: The Lonely Bull is the kinda thing they'd play on WHDH..among others... in Boston in the 60s. The animated Ferdinand the Bull movie, fresh made, in the typical pattern for such adaptations, looks like it has NOTHING of the story's fundamental simplicity, nor the charm or style of the original illustrations, which is discouraging. How you'd keep those qualities in a full-length picture, I don't know. But it seems a far departure.

	♥ 11:50pm northguineahills: Weird, I have this album, My grandmother gave it to me (w/ others). Before then, I had n idea my grandparents liked jazz (conservative methodists in WV). MY grandfather had been dead for 10 years at the time. My parents have no clue about jazz.

We were shown one movie a year in the auditorium at the Catholic school I attended. One year it was The Glass Bottom Boat. It only occurred to me later to wonder what the nuns thought of the semi-farce moments late in the film regarding who's gullibly waiting for Doris in which bedroom...and to wonder how the film passed muster at all.

The animated Ferdinand the Bull movie, fresh made, in the typical pattern for such adaptations, looks like it has NOTHING of the story's fundamental simplicity, nor the charm or style of the original illustrations, which is discouraging. How you'd keep those qualities in a full-length picture, I don't know. But it seems a far departure.
