This is one of my favorite albums from that era--I thought Stereolab were quite special.

Mark R: you were right!

Mark R:

Love hearing this Portishead album, too. Everyone always plays "Dummy," this one kind of slipped through the cracks for a lot of people.

Mark R:

I seriously can't imagine Saturday mornings any more without all the beautiful music you play for us every week, Jeffrey. I'd have to scramble to put together my own homemade "Shrunken Planet"with the albums I bought because I heard them on your show. And it still wouldn't be anywhere near as good.

Oy, Annie--especially in this heat. Well, hopefully when you're all settled in, you'll love your new place.

i know i iwlll mark..thankfully, i can put the money down and move in bits and pieces. but the current landlord is "moody" and can turn on a dime if he wants to. all will be well, i'm sure; i have many offers of help. i'll be downtown!!

i was sitting the my favorite pub yesterday talking with a young man who has lived all over the east coast and he loves ny, just to visit, though, the hustle and bustle was too much for him; wesettled on DC as a better place overall. i live in asheville, nc; we are experiencing a glut of gentrification.. the building i'm moving into was once a grand hotel, now it's senior housing. the building is a classical design, very beautiful inside and out. i'm grateful to be downtown.. i miss walking. hehe, cooh, it's only going to be rough in my mind, the move will go fine.
  7:17am
Mark R:

Ha when you said "downtown," I thought...downtown Asheville sounds cool, too--the building sounds great!

if i could afford to live in nyc i'd jump at the chance.. even queens, i'd be ok... i ride the busses here to feel the sway ... and i usually stand up. small pleasures..

peace all. in 1989 moved to hoboken then park slope brooklyn in an unnafordable artists loft for 650 a month....then Jhan Dean Egg showed up with an apt in midwood for 200 a month....then pincus with an apt on clinton st for 300 a month near avenue b and houston on clinton. it was all very nuts with too many people and getting mugged at gunpoint. would NOT raise my kids there but thats just me. WOULD LIVE in Lublin Poland however....
