Listener Robert:

Cheri, I've been kicked off comment boards here often with such frequency I lost count. Last time Ken said I can be back provided I limit myself to 3 comments per show. I think it's working; that discipline is making me think more before I comment. But no guarantee I won't stick my foot in my keyboard some time again.
  11:02pm
greyhoos:

For the record: Senor Coconut = yes, German. Started out recording ambient Orb-ish stuff under the name Atom Heart. Never interested me back when, so I never checked out the later Senor Coconut alter-ego material. But now that I google it, I have to kick myself for being so incurious. (The Kraftwerk covers are amusing, but I think the Deep Purple cover will now be one of my mixtape essentials.)
Avatar 11:04pm
Dave Mandl:

@LR: I can't speak for Ken, but I don't think simply posting more than three comments will get you banned.
  11:04pm
Listener Robert:

I've been kicked off tons of other moderated online forums too, so it's not like I have some special anti-WFMU charm. Last time I got kicked off was from Glibertarians.com, in amazingly short order after I started there, and I still don't understand what my problem was there.
Avatar 11:06pm
Dave Mandl:

@greyhoos: Thanks for the detail on the Coconut.
  11:08pm
Listener Robert:

No, it's not that posting more than 3 comments was the problem. Rather, it's that if I limit myself to 3 per show, I think about them more carefully before I write them, so I'm less likely to unintentionally offend people.

Like for instance maybe I should've thought more before using a certain word to describe your bookkeeper's looks in what I'd intended as a compliment. Or that the context of a remark may cause it to be taken badly.
Avatar 11:13pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@LR: I've been around that bend w/ Ken here. When I 1st discovered FMU online here a few years back I was unrestrained in my enthusiasm. Did not understand how it could be keeping others off. Why is this program so great - & it's only me here?? So commented even more - a vicious circle...I still overpost. But...I suspect it's also one of those situations where the Manager can't be everywhere - & it only takes one or a few to complain - & that's what gets heard. Who complains to Mommy. (I never do.) There's no board of review - & it just might get a little arbitrary. But - I wouldn't want his job either...

Andrew Waterloo:

I find the people who get banned here are either excessively rude toward the DJ or other commenters, or they're basically having they're own conversation and flooding other people out. Even the most interesting person on earth isn't allowed to drone on and on.
Avatar 11:22pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah - no need for trolling. This is not commercial radio. You don't dig it - there's the whole rest of the world. & - leave some oxygen in the room for others. That - I do have to remember...
  11:25pm
rw:

RR1163, Ha! In reference to complaining to mommy, when my kids were younger and they (or their friends) tattled I would get on the kid who was misbehaving but I'd get on the kid who tattled even more. They learned to settle their differences on their own pretty quickly. And trolling... that makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Great show Dave. I have not heard Wishbone Ash since I was a wee lad. And Yoko! Great stuff.

@Dagwood: Thanks. Yeah, I hadn't heard Wishbone Ash in ages. Long overdue!
Avatar 11:46pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carmichael: Yeah, a very impressive interview. Todd did a great job too.
Avatar 11:54pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thing is - if I get that interview right - we're talking about rewriting the History of FolkRawk. They didn't put Dion's album out in '65 - & he says he tried to get Columbia to back Dylan w/ a band...& there's a reason you just played a track before TimBuckley from a year or more *later*...& - 'Kickin' Child' is *crazy good*. He takes the Dylan influence onbaord w/ equanimity - & Dion can freaking Sing - & does it expressively. Wowed - ya know?
