Seriously, I'm having a lot of technical issues here. Every time I try to play a cassette, there's trouble. Then I'm having trouble reading these labels. Why don't you guys put numbers next to the track list on every album?! Jesus--it's like they're TRYING to make us make mistakes. Have mercy on the DJs, we're trying to HELP you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44am
joeray:

Cassettes are probably the worst format for a DJ to deal with when any special cueing is involved.

Playing cassettes on the radio -- hardcore, man.

Didn't work out, Fuzzy. Never does. Worked in cue. Didn't work for real. Never again, I say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46am

I know too from experience -- cueing up cassettes is a real hit-or-miss thing. Too often it's a miss.

Ode to L.A. While Thinking of Brian Jones, Deceased

I’m a resident of a city
They’ve just picked me to play
the Prince of Denmark

Poor Ophelia

All those ghosts he never saw
Floating to doom
On an iron candle

Come back, brave warrior
Do the dive
On another channel

Hot buttered pool
Where’s Marrakesh
Under the falls
the wild storm
where savages fell out
in late afternoon
monsters of rhythm

You’ve left your
Nothing
to compete w/
Silence

I hope you went out
Smiling
Like a child
Into the cool remnant
of a dream

The angel man
w/ Serpents competing
for his palms
& fingers
Finally claimed
This benevolent
Soul

Ophelia

Leaves, sodden
in silk

Chlorine
dream
mad stifled
Witness

The diving board, the plunge
The pool

You were a fighter
a damask musky muse

You were the bleached
Sun
for TV afternoon

horned-toads
maverick of a yellow spot

Look now to where it’s got
You

in meat heaven
w/ the cannibals
& jews

The gardener
Found
The body, rampant, Floating

Lucky Stiff
What is this green pale stuff
You’re made of

Poke holes in the goddess
Skin

Will he Stink
Carried heavenward
Thru the halls
of music

No Chance.

Requiem for a heavy
That smile
That porky satyr’s
leer
has leaped upward

into the loam

WDR (Westdeutscher Runfunk), radio-Ty-Station in Cologne. Official TV used to be run by a union (ARD) of Country-based station, refecting the Federal strukture of the republic.
WDR represents the North-Rhine-westphalia.

Got it--cool. Our local news station in Detroit used to use the music from this one segment of "Cool Hand Luke" as their theme music every night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15am
Guido from Cologne:

WDR was pretty innovative at the time:
Eductional programmes (also for immigrants),
introduction of Sesame Street (even the US original),
lots of culture,
and quite a lot of Jazz
and some Rock ("swinging in" series, find it on YouTube).

This might be the first time I've played them on my show. Maybe one other time. Haven't listened to "The Soft Parade" in years. Sounded pretty good this morning. I think they were great, too, but they don't wear well. A little goes a long way. If I haven't heard them in a while, I always enjoy them, though. (1st album is the exception--I'm down for that one any time.)
